ECHL site has him down as left wing plus he has hardly took regular face offs and eliteprospects has him down as LW, sounds like a winger to me. Think i'll take ECHL site says over the rubbish hockey fight sites. Corey has said in the NEP that he's a centre who can also play as a winger. I'm expecting this guy to be our final centre which makes me much much happier.

I'll tell you who he's replaced. God damn Molin. and.... your point is? My point is that people are moaning on this thread about who he's replaced, not bearing in mind we had molin for parts of last year and apart from when he was in the team, we never had a natural two way player and for parts of the season that's what we missed. Molin was a proven goalscorer with a great two way ability and by the sounds of things, so is Sproat so we have made an indirect replacement to a member of our squad last year.

I think he looks a very good signing and like everyone else I am surprised if you are underwhelmed by this signing, I reckon he will be 1st/2nd line and im pretty sure he will rack up anywhere between 70-90 points. Also guys what do you reckon the chances are of us playing a fourth line, all we need to do is get a couple more brits and we would have one and that would be a major advantage on the rest of the teams in this league.
Got some stats for everyone that people may find interesting(or irrelevant):
Team Height Weight Age
1 Belfast Giants: 182.85 cm 86.45 kg 27.70 yrs
2 Cardiff Devils: 182.33 cm 84.43 kg 26.48 yrs
3 Coventry Blaze: 180.04 cm 82.56 kg 26.32 yrs
4 Dundee Stars: 182.00 cm 85.67 kg 27.33 yrs
5 Edinburgh Caps: 181.95 cm 86.48 kg 25.67 yrs
6 Hull Stingrays: 180.20 cm 85.05 kg 26.00 yrs
7 Newcastle Vip: 179.59 cm 84.53 kg 25.12 yrs
8 Nottingham: 182.96 cm 85.17 kg 25.50 yrs
9 Sheffield Steel: 183.11 cm 84.84 kg 27.68 yrs
10 Braehead Clan: 180.44 cm 81.67 kg 23.11 yrs

He can play wing, but indications seem to be centre. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/ice_hockey/8721838.stm

I think we will play a 4th line on occassions especially when the Lions guys are avialable (along with Janes Neil from Phoenix). Wouldnt it be great to see Lacho Brit Brit Lee Norton Green on the ice at the same time ;D HL

Would be interested to see those stats when rosters are complete bill, doesn't really say much at the minute, Dundee only have 1 player don't they?!. We seem to be going for younger players than we might have had in the past thus far. I like the type of guys Corey seems to be recruiting:
Ryan: Young, fought back from bad injury - clearly has character, doing a uni course - clearly has ambition and a brain. Penner: No fear young enforcer, knows his role and not scared to make some statements to that effect - seems very hungry rather than a journeyman who has a pair of fists Sproat: Again, like the two above, young and hungry, again is taking a uni course and is not just in Nottm for the ale/girls also his hockey for kids work shows more about the character of the guy off the ice as well
These are team guys who have the potential to improve the one thing that got the better of us more than anything else last term - attitude.

I'm looking forward to what Doom has to say, he quite often predicts points scoring potential quite well.

I'm some what mystified as to why he's a centre? He 100% played on the wing last season and his centre infact was Barret Ehgoetz..

I think it all depends on whether Levers plays as centre. If he does then there is one winger and one centre to fill (before this signing). If Levers is on the wing then there's only centre positions left on the roster.

... im pretty sure he will rack up anywhere between 70-90 points. Really? Based on last year's league stats that would put him comfortably top ten and, at the upper estimate, top points scorer in the EIHL. Are you basing this on the numbers put up by this guy last season (posted by Adam on p1 of the thread)? If so, are you factoring in the number of games he played (which - at a whopping 90 - is, on an equivalent basis, closer to two league seasons than one)?

I think someone who can average just under a point in the ECHL will average comfortably over a point in the EIHL. I'm going to to change my guess from 70-90 points to 60-80 points but TBH I can't really make a accurate guess because I have never seen the guy play so he could turn out to be rubbish or unbelievable but If he follows his form from the past couple of seasons I would expect him as I said before to get 60-80 points

I am quite genuinely stunned that some people are under whelmed by this signing. We have signed one of the best players who produced some of the best figures for the best team in the ECHL! Seriously, what isn't there to like about this? Do some people honestly think we should be signing players straight from the NHL because of our resources? Please, help me out here because I'm struggling to understand the reaction.

One or two things really stand out for me: * Played 91 games last season! He must be fit and durable to do that. * +/- stats have their critics, but +30 is very impressive by any measure. * Clearly does good work away from the ice as well. I'm looking forward to seeing this team next season. For the doubters, never fear. Kane and Briere are a bit busy right now, but once the Stanley Cup is over I am sure Corey will be talking to them.

Maybe people were hoping for a guy who's played higher than the East Coast (4 games at AHL level I know, but 0 pts)? I'm neither underwhelmed or going hoopla about this guy, he looks a decent piece to the puzzle but that's it so far for me.
