oh o0oh o0oh can i answer.... ;D is it cos some think its our god given right to win something every year regardless of whos coach and also that a new coach should mean instant success?? WRONG well imho its all to do with perception, in the old place it was always gutsy performances that won us awards rather than abilty (generally) as we had problems competing with the so called big boys now we ARE the big boys and most fans i talk too think its about time its our time to be successful because most new fans have only seen us win ONE challenge cup competition and that was some time ago now. It isnt too much to ask for a successful team now and again. For fear of stating the obvious, coventry (a relatively new club) have won one grand slam plus other cups) newcomers to our league newcastle won a second place and a playoff cup, belfast again relatively newcomers have won cups too numerous to name and dont get me started on steelers since their inception. As a panthers fan it isnt too much to ask being the most financially stable and profitable club on the circuit with what i suspect is the most buying power in england to win for eg the league now again if we were playing averages here we should have won it several times yet NOTHING... panthers fans imho do NOT moan anywhere near enough given the lack of success ON THE ICE in nottingham....

I'm happy to give Mike Ellis time.
I'm certain he wants to succeed as a coach, and would be more worried if he wanted to leave us. He's giving 100% - there are too many of our players not doing that right now!

Are you saying Lucy that you think most of the team are giving 100% and as such we need to stick with them?
IF so, i have several issues with that 1. I personally dont believe several of our KEY ie expensive players are doing that right now and i will name 2 who i think fit both categories Nielsen and Stevens, both of which i am sure great guys but it plainly isnt working out in nottingham so a thanks but no thanks is required. 2. If as you say they are giving 100% then 100% is plainly below what is needed in this from our players and hence if that is the case then changes need to be made so that 100% effort is better than our competition dont you agree? Dont think there are many Lucy that arent prepared to give Ellis more time in charge afterall now he is playing he seems to be one of a few who is getting the rewards for his efforts(but which again was a penny pinching exercise which IF they had brought a high scoring forward in wouldnt need to be happening and would have given us options when MAc is back, but now they are behind the 8 ball in bringing in other players).
I think even the most "happy clappy" fan feels the need now to inject new blood and new life in what at the moment is a very stale and stagnant team, surely to act now is better than watch the situation deteriorate even further? We have just lost to the bottom club which by most reports was another dire performance (bar ellis again) if things do not improve it wont be long before that club is us...

last year everyone wanted a coach that gave a stuff about results, the year before everyone just wanted anyone but Adey and now theres a flipping thread demanded we get him back.
this year weve got a coach that genuinely cares and is working his backside off to sort this team out, id rather show my support for a coach with those ethics than move on to another probable disappointment.
theres no point in changing the coach every season, stability mixed with a hard working coach is a damn site more likely to bring us success imo
the whinging and moaning isnt going to help anyone, getting behind the team and building confidence could well do though

for what its worth Nick, i dont believe a change in coach (unless its to mcsorely or Kleinendorst) right now would be the correct move. And i definitely do not want Adey back...

Mike Ellis I believe will come good but he's got to act now and ditch some of the muppets on this team. Paper talk and threats ain't working, firm action now.

We had the advantage this season of a pre season tour ( the lack of which we've always used to explain poor early season form in the past). Also Ellis said he was more than satisfied with the squad he had assembled and had got his first choice players in all positions. Howver he would say that wouldn't he at the start?
After Blaisdell ( who I never wanted back but the majority did at the time)I wanted ( like a few others) a coach new to this country, Neil Black gave indications of this so somehow I was disappointed when Ellis was announced. Great start which has totally evaporated. However the decision has been made and whatever happens....happens. No way should Ellis not see out the whole season whatever the results. However having got his "first choice" players, it is up to him to deliver a more than reasonable season or make changes along the way.
It doesn't matter whether we think he's the man for the job or not. He's got it till the end of the season, the league position isn't total disaster at the moment so a defeat at Bison shouldn't be the end of the world even though it extends a dismal run. I was down there when we won 10-0 I think it was during the playoffs in one of Blaisdell's last games. My NHL team Calgary lost five in a row but then have won their last four. The present run is bad but it will turn and we have to live with it and support Ellis.
I'm not expecting any league championship this season and I wasn't when we were top of the league....that way I'm never disappointed but fervently hope one day to be pleasantly surprised.

Why do panthers fans complain so much...? Because we get promised so much and delivered so little? how can you get promised anything in sport though? the press releases i have seen havent promised anything, comments from mike ellis havent. Its been quiet compared to other years thats for sure. And on the ice you can never have promises especially in this league now with the wage cap being properly enforced teams are closer together than ever. Any team can beat any other team on any given night. Every team has a slump, its not like you have been scrapping to make the playoffs every year have you, also have you ever finished lower than 3rd in the elite league? I'ed settle for that year on year to be honest.

Gazza, every year we get 'we've got the best team in the league this year, it's our year' and every year we cockerel up in November.

Gazza, every year we get 'we've got the best team in the league this year, it's our year' and every year we cockerel up in November. well i didnt see any of that this year from you guys, i saw a lot of positives coming from the organisation but nothing more than what other teams were putting out there. I seen a post earlier about nottingham having the best package for players, do posters here think that could very well be part of the problem?

not everyone on this forum thinks like Newham Gazza, i was quite impressed with how Panthers dealt the press releases this summer. i understand were going through a slump and i think the thing that bothers Panthers supporters the most is that were always so close but never quite there.

But Nick do you feel that this 'best package' in the league is the reason your always almost there. Do panthers players have it to good off the ice that they cant be bothered on it?
