i aint one for believing in coincidences and the results directly after the CC is one hell of a coincidence!!

I,for one,am seriously fed up with this now! I`m just glad that I havn`t driven down to Basingstoke to witness yet another loss.I thought last years team was bad but I don`t recall us going on a string of loss`s like this even with the likes of Sebastian and Bowen. Adey`s three teams all played better than this!! We all seem to be blaming some of the players for this and I think there are definately,at least, one or two that need to get their coats. But we have a coach and a full time assistant coach who are paid to get this team up and motivated to win games and trophys(the wooden spoon, anyone?) If the players don`t perform well enough then this is where they need to earn their money and get the team back into it. I don`t see any evidence of that happening. Granted,Ellis has scored in the last two games and credit to him for that. But what the hell is happening with the likes of the other forwards? Why are they not playing as if their career is on the line? I was looking at some footage on You Tube the other night,of the Giants from the Superleague days and Stevens looked awesome, scoring some great goals and plenty of them. Last season,Petriko scored a shed load of goals and was one of the best players on the Vipers roster. What`s different this year? Are the coaching tactics right? Or is it purely down to the players? Has anyone seen the interview with Calle on the website? It really is no different than all the other years, with endless spin and nowhere near enough focus on WIN,WIN,WIN!!!! There seems to be too much nicely, nicely attitude in this club. I can barely muster anything positive to think about this team at the moment.I just really, really hope that the club gets to the bottom of this problem and sorts it quick! I`m not holding my breath though

Great comments Matt and I think you are spot on. When all said and done its not only the players jobs on the line but the two coaches. The buck stops with them!

No, you posted a thread asking if Ellis is up to being coach of the Panthers <and while a valid arguement & worthy of a debate> it's nothing more than a rhetorical question as it's obvious that you clearly feel he isn't. That's fine, that's your opinion & you're entitled to it but why start a debate on a subject that you're not prepared to debate? Bizarre.

If the coaching staff say it's not the cc which has led to the poor form I suppose they know the real reason then? It's no coincidence that we went to play in a competitionwere we obviously knew nothing of the standard of opposition and came out of it no hopers. Anyone know why we entered?

We have not become a bad team overnight but this has got beyond a joke. The simple fact is the team's confidence has been shot to ribbons, much like Forest the year we got relegated from the Championship...we were considerably better than a number of teams above us but our confidence was less than zero and the same applies to the Panthers now.
I'm afraid to say I wonder whether we have it in us to get out of this mess.

Simply put Andy, we don't. We never do. I just want to watch a side with guts and ability, it's always one or the other, never both.
Why do we keep coming back?

Has anyone heard how we actually played tonight. The shots on goal were again quite high. Has it been the same old failing of being unable to score. Basinstoke are bottom of the table but the goals they have scored have been shared around the team. Sadly with our team if Clarkie fails the team fails.

As for it all due to confidence, hardly, if this is to do with confidence then we have a pretty shallow bunch of canadians who in my experience do not tend to lack that of all things.... still nice bunch of guys lets keep em eh!!!

Basinstoke are bottom of the table but the goals they have scored have been shared around the team. Sadly with our team if Clarkie fails the team fails. You started out like a house on fire and it was only Curtis that kept us in it for the first five or 10 minutes; Bison slowly worked their way into the game but drawing all the penalties in the first meant Panthers kept the momentum. second was a scrappy period with neither team being ablt to string any meaningful possession together, although Bison finished the stronger (probably because all the penalties were being given against Panthers). Third was mainly Bison pressure but Ellis scored against the run of play. Thankfully Bison's head didn't drop as they have in the last few matches and a superb wraparound by Greg Owen evened things up, then with a little over three minutes to go some superb forechecking by Doug Sheppard coughed up the puckt o Greg Chambers who managed to squeeze the biscuit between Lindsay's pad and post for the game winner. Last two minutes was hairy as first Owen (hooking) and then DeSantis (delay of game) were sent to the sin bin but Bison managed to fend off the six on three and six on four pens to run out winners. My moms would have been both goaltenders, but Krajicek and Owen were given the awards.

Why do we keep coming back? Because we're a bunch of masochistic souls who enjoy self torture of course.

Sadly with our team if Clarkie fails the team fails. And that is not a good sign is it? DC is one hell of a homegrown player,of that there is no doubt. But,we have a host of quality import forwards,on more money than him I imagine, and with good stats to their names from previous seasons elsewhere. Purely and simply, they are not coming up with the goods and in my eyes, that means that they are not doing the job that they are paid to do.And that is to score goals and plenty of them!! Now if that is down to a lack of effort or not doing what the coach is telling them to do,then IMO it`s bye, bye. However,if ME is struggling with getting the players to gell, work together, click, call it what you will. Then his abilities as a coach of the biggest and most under-acheiving club in the Elite League(if you look at our resourses, venue, regular 4000+home crowds these should all help your team if you ask me) are going to be brought into question. ME was quoted as saying in an interview earlier in the season that he considered the highs and lows to be a lot greater in this club due to the magnitude of it,compared to life with the Bees.Well you need to man up mate and get on with it.Lets see what you are made of Mike, are you man enough to lift this club out of this major rut and lead us to glory or are you going to whimper, moan and do what this club historically does and "spin"their way out of it with a host of excuses as to why,yet again,Panthers have failed to deliver to their army of long suffering and amazingly loyal fans for the umpeenth season in a row. Yes it`s true,it is "only" November, but how many times have we been here before and how much patince are we expected to have? Look at Belfast in comparison, this season, like last, they have come flying out of the starting blocks and have played consistantly well. And they are sitting pretty at the top of the table as a well deserved reward for their efforts! There is no room for complacency if we want to be champions,we need to win at all costs and that is the message that needs to be got through to the team louder and clearer than ever before because this current performance is simply not fitting of a club with supposed aspirations of being winners!

I wrote something similar to your views on another thread Tex. This is why I refuse to blame our slump on the Continental cup. Our team lost 3 games in that week, and all of a sudden we come back and are mired in a right funk for God knows what reason. You and I disagreed about changes a few weeks ago, before the Sheffield & Coventry weekend. In that time we've lost 5 and tied 1 which is lame & pretty crappy. Time for <some> players to get the chop.

nice to be in agreement shin but surely quick decisive action is needed not dillying and dallying around as seems to be the panthers way... it is so obvious to most of the fans whom on the team are underachieving yet appear to be above criticism in some quarters. For those wanting to keep what we have, let me put it this way, replacements cannot be any worse than we have now and may be a damn sight better....

with the exception of losing 3-0 to Hull last month, no team has beaten us by more than 1 goal (not including CC games). This shows that despite this awful run of results were in, we're never out of the game even up to the 59.59 mark. As many people have said, we havn't become a bad team overnight, this is sport people and every team has bad spells. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not happy with the results either but this is our team, keep the faith! If we can get another good run going like the one at the start of the season, then we'll soon head back up the league. Having said this though, maybe a couple of changes in personnel would help to buck everyone elses ideas up. Fingers crossed for the game up at Viper Grove tomorrow!

Well, what can i say what a long jouney home!! IMHO this is how i saw it! 1st 5-10 mins as already mentioned CC kept the Bison in the game and we should have been 3-0 up but failure to convert goals again was our downside. 2nd period was dreadful, no skillfull passing, bitting and bobbing from both teams there was no consistent flow of the game. Hate to say it but Bison were nothing to shout about except the man between the pipes i'm afraid which makes our "team" look even more awful. 3rd period not bad have seen a lot worse, hard work from ME for the goal, its a shame that some of his players don't look to him for leadership on the ice and play with the same will and dedication to the game!! Now heres the harsh bit where i'm expecting the differences. Mr Lindsay, i have to say costs us at least a goal a game and to be honest tonight he cost us two, most of the evening he hadn't a clue where the puck was, but have to say he as at least learnt what his glove is for and actually made a couple of good glove saves. Mr Neilson i'm sure is colourblind because more often than not he passed to the wrong colour shirt, now how you can not tell the difference between black and white and green i do not know!! Others to mention are Stevens, Petriecko and Blaz, you all had a terrible game. Mr Clarke how you missed the empty net with about 3 secs to go i don't know but i suppose that just about sums up our game!! At this moment in time i've nothing constructive really to say, after a 2.5 hr journey home from watching that shambles i wish i'd stayed in to watch X Factor!! I for one am getting fed up with the lack of confidence blah blah blah coming from the camp and have until tonight not been to critical of what appears to be going wrong but i think sitting on my butt for the past couple of hours has made my brain work overtime and the frustration set in big time. If we play like that tomorrow unless a miracle happens we will get our buts whipped for sure and from being near the top a few weeks a go we will be fighting teams for the wooden spoon at the end of the season if something isn't done drastically!! Finally Mr Black we all understand it costs money to hire/fire players, however if something is not done drastically i'm not sure we'll even make the playoffs the way things are going!! Oh and just one thing, i personally thought #2 Mr Kraijeck deserved his MOM, he was the only player (besides ME) who played well and was actually able to carry the puck and clear the zone! Rant over i'm going to bed now! Night

AND!!!! is it ot a worry our coach is scoring our goals?
For me sack Nielson, Stevens (did we sign him?), Lindsay.
Keep Kraijeck (Number one d in league), Clarke(number on brit in league) , Simmo (lionheart).
oh and.......Bring back Trevor Robins!!!!!

Win or lose by a single goal is neither here nor there, lose by 1 or lose by 10 its still a loss. Teams that win cups manage to turn those losses into wins and the panthers who were doing that to some extent pre CC now seem incapable. The way belfast for eg seem to be getting win after win the league seems to be escaping us but at the moment a realistic ambition is to avoid the wooden spoon. Keep the faith? why whats to have faith in? that we will lose? This is the same old dribble rolled out when talking about supporting the team, what are they giving us too support right now? As panthers fans we have seen many lean years where we keep the faith and keep supporting an underachieving team surely now would be a good time to have a team that is worth supporting, cheering and having faith in because right now the only result we seem capable of achieving is a loss... and i for one would like to feel a little better on monday rather than going into work even more fed up...wouldnt most fans?

Well said Bangontheglass you did very well to compose that essay at that time of night, when I know you needed your bed badly You have covered all that I would have said cheers matey. But OH what a another dissapointing and depressing game for us to sit and watch...things have got to come to an head now surely, this underperforming thing has got to be sorted quick pronto..we are going to be slipping down that league with no return. What exitement we all felt at the start of the season, with those wins....remember them then CC.....and now we are in this awful rut with everyone so damm depressed. Peeps were willing Basingstoke to score towards the end so as it wouldn't go into OT....now when you think of it thats bad, we all just wanted to get it all over and done with and get going on the long journey home. How many peeps on the way home was saying the same as us.....oh dear....oh well...sigh sigh sigh etc. Just wouldn't fancy that trip to Newcastle today thats for sure....Just one more thing to add to my misery, at the end of the game I nipped to the loo...as you do before a long journey home, and as I pulled the door towards me, there stood a Basingstoke lady....I say lady but she deffo was no lady, It makes you jump as the door opens and someone is there, I said oh sorry luvvie, to which she replied...If i'd have known it was one of your lot would have smashed the door in your bl**dy face!!!! errr why would she say that, they had just won the game....so that annoyed me, maybe she didn't like us signing for Curtis and hes theres now......so not a nice end to a depressing evening...hey ho
