Don't worry there'll be some "I'm alright Jack" type along in a minute to tell us that it doesn't matter because THEY like Faithless.

I remember when Manchester played out of the MEN arena, The arena were allowed to move 4 fixtures as part of the deal. Late concert bookings meant that they always took advantage of it. Wonder if it is the same deal at the NIC

Same as usual. The NIC don't give a flying puck about its bread and butter, week to week customers, they only care about the big money

If it weren't for these big events, we wouldn't have an awesome arena to play in. Whilst it may be annoying to have games moved, we need to look on the bright side. I'd rather play in a wonderful arena on a Sunday than play in a tent ala Manchester/Cardiff on a Saturday.

Newham we had a perfectly good arena without the NIC and were sold on the NIC not because it would hold concerts when hockey should be played but it would be a shiny new home for the panthers, cant remember reading the small print of the NATIONAL ICE CENTRE that we can play hockey there only IF a better offer doesnt come along...

Well you were naiive then. The old arena was nice, but in a ramshackle way, it was falling apart. We move into a wonderful new building and people complain about moving a few fixtures, so what? We still get plenty of Saturday games, more than Forest for sure.
The National Ice Centre has 7,000 seats for a reason and it aint always hockey, if you didn't think games would be moved because of it then you must have had your head in the clouds.

Did they move a Derby County game so that the Chilli Peppers could have Pride Park?
NO
Was a Newcastle Utd game shifted because Bryan Adams wanted to play there?
NO
If someone wants to play at a venue, they should have it when it is available not oust the ones who have already booked it.
If you book / reserve a holiday home you don't expect the owner to inform you that some else wants it and you have got to move / change dates do you?

Wrong If it wasn't for the PANTHERS out growing the old stadium, putting the idea of a new venue forward and with the help of money from SPORT UK and the National Lottery we wouldn't have THE NATIONAL ICE CENTRE for these events

Your points and his aren't mutually exclusive. Regardless of whose idea the arena was, who payed for it, or how small the previous place was; if the arena didn't get revenue from big concerts, it wouldn't earn enough to stay open.

Catch 22 What I am saying is If it wasn't for the foresight of the Panthers wanting a new arena to play in, there wouldn't be a venue for the big acts to play in. We'd be stuck with the Royal CONCERT hall

there wouldn't be a venue for the big acts to play in. We'd be stuck with the Royal CONCERT hall The fact the Concert Hall was too small for the big acts to play was a big factor behind the NIC/Nottingham Arena being built. Funding had to be obtained by whatever means possible - a multi-use facility was the only viable option.

If you book / reserve a holiday home you don't expect the owner to inform you that some else wants it and you have got to move / change dates do you? Derby County average attendance = 25k Newcastle United average attendance = 50k Panthers average attendance = 4k Big bold colourful letters don't make your point any more valid. Whilst it is annoying that games are moved, we don't own the NIC like Derby and Newcastle own their grounds and therefore they are perfectly entitled to move us if they like. I'm not saying i like it, i'm just saying it's a fact of life. No point crying about it. If it weren't for these big events, we wouldn't have an awesome arena to play in. . Wrong If it wasn't for the PANTHERS out growing the old stadium, putting the idea of a new venue forward and with the help of money from SPORT UK and the National Lottery we wouldn't have THE NATIONAL ICE CENTRE for these events So if it wasn't for the Panthers, the NIC wouldn't exist? I doubt that. Nottingham was a city looking to be a location for major events for a long time. The mere fact we have an ice hockey side with a decent following that could play in it was a nice bonus for the plans. I'm not doubting we had a good say in it but the arena was built primarily as a concert/gig event and as an ice hockey venue secondarily. The relative attendance figures show us that. Regardless, as Doughnut says, both of the points can co-exist. The NIC would not exist on skating and Panthers alone, it would lose a huge amount of money keeping it open. As it is, the gigs are the major money-maker. Either you have the gigs and moved matches whilst playing in the NIC or play whenever you like in a tiny, uncomfortable rink somewhere in Carlton. BUT admin, at the time that was NOT how it was sold to the public of nottingham in any shape, it was sold by Torvill and Dean etc as the NATIONAl ICE CENTRE ...... The NATIONAL GIG AND OCCASIONAL MUSICAL CENTRE doesn't have quite the same ring to it though does it?

Chris with all due respect that is not a fair comparison. Derby County and Newcastle United OWN their stadiums (or at least own control of them) whereas the Panthers are merely sitting tenants in a building owned by someone else. It is annoying that fixtures get moved but sadly it is a part of having a state of the art venue. And Tex, come on, as much as I adored it and miss it to this day LPS was not a perfectly good stadium, it was a dump, that was part of it's charm but it was a dump all the same.

I beleive our fixture list when released is more of a provisional one and its always subject to change.
When Mr promoter comes knocking on the door saying "i can get his arena rocking to 10,000 fans" what the NIC going to say
Like whats been said, its a multi purpose arena, and the management want acts all the time such as this week , Pink are there another 8,000 plus id say.
The next panthers home match is against the vipers, who will possibly fill half the seats.
It maybe called the national ICE centre but thats basically because it has ice inside it, not necessarily making ice sports a priority.
We perhaps should have our own arena just for the panthers which seats 4,500, what a atmostphere we could generate in there
We always will play second fiddle, its about money in this day and age, nothing else.
Some really do need to be realistic, this will happen every year and until Panthers are selling 6,600 tickets EVERY WEEK there isn t a argument.
