And if he'd stayed with us for the entire season then signed for someone else - even Sheffield - during the summer, there wouldn't be anywhere near as much antipathy towards him. But no... he had to go and naff off partway through the season, leaving us in the lurch. That's disloyalty... that's not 'giving it his all'. He showed us no loyalty - why should he receive any now? Personally, I couldn't give a toss that it was Sheffield he signed for... doing that to us and them coming back to the UK and signing for ANY other Elite League would be enough to condemn him in my eyes. I'm not wishing major injury on the man, but I would very much like to see Simoes or someone else check him so hard that he staggers off the ice not even knowing what day it is. A small bit of pay-back... We do welcome back ex-players, Gazza... just not ones that stabbed us in the back. Tessier belongs in the latter category. And this from someone who "skinned" Brett Clouthier for a hard hit. Double standards or what. Get over the Tess business, part of it is newspaper spin, another part is vindictive envy. Maybe Tess did not like the look of his circumstances surrounding his days at Nottingham, and identified Blaisdell's lack of interest and enthusiasm for the role of coach to the Panthers and left for reasons other than finance. Tess is one player, and if the Panthers are saying he made that big a difference to their seasons prospects by leaving, then blame the coach for having all his eggs in one basket. Time for everyone at Nottingham to "kiss and make up" with our little genius. OK Sooty - what if Tess got an offer to go elsewhere for more money NOW and he left the Steelers, throwing out his two year deal, and his car with his name (and fake £20 notes) on it. Then walked back in to us or Blaze or Phoenix. Listening to some Steeler fans over the past 2 weekends if Tess isn't firing on six then Steelers are a poor team.

If Tess walked out off the Steelers this week, I would not blame Tess. I would expect someone at the Steelers to examine why it had happened, see if the blame was ours, if so apportion the blame accordingly, if the blame was not ours, more money for example, what could we have done within the current financial constraints to have avoided that scenario. Nothing. So I would expect to see our coach and management team move on and replace any player who chose to improve his lot. What I would also expect is the passion for and against to be expended within a few weeks of any action taken by the player. But that is me, I feel looking forward is the better option than looking back. I remember us picking up Bronsard mid season, what a result. So trying not to be hypocritical I can understand the euphoria of gaining a class act from another team, and also losing that class act from your own team.

Apparently on Steeler Hockey tonight he was saying that he doesn't have any respect for Panthers fans anymore. Doesn't your heart just bleed for the guy? Probably gets a bonus for "hyping up the rivalry". He'll like that.

The thing is he might tell anyone who will listen that he didnt wanna leave and his side of the story but he should have said it publically, whether steelers were happy or not, if hed put a paragraph in the NEP over the summer it would have been a different story IMO

Panthers organisation normally states the leaving player cannot speak to the press, stated in their contracts. A few players have had that problem. Panthers fans are bitter because he was top class and our team was built around him, the team never looked anything without him. Still think he did what was right for himself which is what anyone would do.

I'd have expected to come in for a lot of flack from Panthers fans though. And if getting booed every time he's on the puck distracts him in anyway, then long may it continue

We do welcome back ex-players, Gazza... just not ones that stabbed us in the back. Tessier belongs in the latter category. I fully agree with Dave on this one, I remember Strudder playing for Bracknell in the last days of the ISL, and I recall the Bees skating round the NIC ice having been thumped 10-3 (play IIRC) and many many Panthers fans stood up and applauded the guy. I actually happened to look him dead in the eye and started clapping more due to his efforts for us. He returned to applause too. Top bloke.

Aye, Scott will always be welcomed back warmly to the NIC, in a similar manner to Dave Struch I reckon. Ricci would have played for us this season too - looking at our defence now, it's a real shame we didn't sign him up. Only cos' you bought that Rochester jersey off me
