No one seems much interested in this one but we'd best have a game thread for it just in case. A lot of work to be done if the LPS faithful are to go home happy on Saturday evening....

a bit off topic but whats the likelyhood of this game selling out? was thinking of driving down to take this game in seeing as the Vipers don't have a game this weekend. Dave

Can't be there tonight (staying in with the doggy cause of the fireworks!). Not sure how this will pan out, fingers crossed we can turn it around - ever the optimist. I think whats been said already if we can really get behind them then hopefully they can play like last week but hold off in the third. Good luck guys!

So, who scored Panthers 2nd and how did McAslan manage to pick up a 2+G misconduct penalty? He didn't play, did he?

I believe Mr Ellis scored your second, as for the 2+game I have no idea. I have been told Gus and Shymr had a little set to toward the end?

just got home and really wished i hadnt of bothered.
a poor game against a team who iced 13 players i think?
We never really looked up for it and never looked liked winning.
i really just dont know whats gone wrong as nothing seems to be working.
IMO poor first touch which led us to being closed down too easy - and as a result we were very scrappy and i dont think we had any clear cut chances
PP - what the hell is happening?
giving too many penalties in the 3rd - it cost us
and in closing i'm glad there away for a few weeks, as the way i'm feeling at the moment theres no way i am going to waste more of my hard earned money on that CRAP

Couldn't get there tonight but it looks as if Tessier had the last laugh again at the NIC. A week ago after a none too brilliant game he scores in the shoot out on our ice to keep Steelers in it in a league game Steelers eventually won. Tonight on our ice he scores the goal to dump us out of the CC. Seems someone had some motivation!!!

I know there are many veteren Panther fans on here, but never the less, this is my fifth season and I`m just about bloody sick and tired of us falling to pieces after a good start to the season Is there some sort of mentality that prevails within the club that encourages apathy and half-assed efforts from the team? I really am beginning to wonder..... Someone commented(moaned) about John Elliott on another separate thread, that "Belfast have a win at all costs mentality" [glow=red,2,300]WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT!![/glow] That`s why Giants are on course for another title and why we are on a hiding to nothing! Who got our goals again? Oh that`s right,a Brit(a bloody good one, granted) and the Coach!!! Whats happening with the other forwards? People are moaning about Neilson(I think he`s garbage at the moment too) but if our forwards aren`t scoring, how are we gonna win? I think Simoes is a good player and I love to see him cream players into the boards, but where are his goals? Stevens,Blaz are both highly rated but neither are putting it in the back of the net. Why?? I`m quite unhappy with myself for feeling like this, but I`m getting to the stage where I`m past caring and thats not good! I went into this season saying that I wasn`t going to get my hopes up too much and that I was just going to enjoy the Hockey, but when I`m passionate about something,I can`t help but get my heart into it,and right now I`m back in that oh so familiar place during the season, where we have had one put over on us by them lot up the road. And it feels bloody horrible as usual

Changes must be made sooner rather than later. Start with the defence namely Mr Lindsay, and then move on to Neilson to name but two. Lindsay too hesitant and reminds me too much of Jordan Willis on a bad day (another overated goalie). Overall tonights performance was a huge improvement on last night, but we need to perform in every period as we did in the third. It's no good only having one good period per game. If we keep on like this panthers will need to buy a people carrier to use as the loser cruiser.

Ok, will do. Wasn't at the game tonight, but based on last night's performance, i would definately get rid of lindsay, he leaks rebounds like a sieve, neilson, poor on the puck, and frankly, could've won the MOM for steelers last night.

I have no nails left... Sutter's goal was taken wonderfully, although I'm not sure where your defence went for that?!?! Clarke is still Panthers only attacking threat at the minute and Ellis's goal was a lead from example finish. Tessier had to score sooner or later...and what a time to break the drought! I thought the goal that was ruled out for the net off the moorings was going to cost us a win but it wasn't to be. Even Panthers fans I talked to said it was in ages before the net came off... Thank you to the classy Panther fan who patted me on the back and said well done as I was leaving the arena. Enjoyed laughing in the face of another 2 minutes down the road who called me scum! ;D And good on that speedy steward to see to the spot of trouble in Block 4 at the end! Roll on the semi finals! And to that 'lady' who said we were welcome to Dan Tessier.... THANK YOU AND GOODNIGHT! ;D

Part of what is on www.panthers.co.ukAfterwards coach Ellis told the club hotline he was gutted and said he would spend the next two days analysing every aspect of the club's recent poor run of results. He admitted the GMB Panthers were missing a spark and the results were not good enough : "I have a lot of thinking to do. I know what Nottingham demands and I know what the management demands here but I have to honestly say the boys that went out there tonight left everything on the ice." So,is he saying that as far as he is concerned, this team gave 100% tonight? If that`s the case, then quite simply we are not anywhere near good enough to progress any further and we are destined to drop down the league rapidly Sheffield are an ok team but they are not league contenders are they? And if an average, short benched Steelers can hold us at bay, with relative ease,we`ve gone as far as we are going to go.Period. This sucks!

I am gutted we lost the tie, but I am glad to see our overall performances getting better.
At least we can focus on the league more.
Tessier did have the last laugh. At the end when leaving the ice, he was laughing big time at the fans deciding to give him both barrels in block 14. Shame Tess couldn't ignore the fools, but then those fans should get some perspective.

very very dissapointed in the game, thought we were going to get that all important goal, but that was just wishful thinking....why didn't Linsday come off a little bit earlier, we looked at the clock with a minute plus left and he was still on the ice, but then again doubt it would have made any difference... . Also Sheffield did score that goal, the puck went in before the net came off, we had a perfect view... so we did have a little bit of luck i suppose. Must say though that Mike Ellis's goal was a corker....big ups to him, he was everso pleased with himself for scoring don't you think. Nice to meet the 2 Dutch guys, they seemed to be enjoying it all, and they started off many a chant...bless em!!!! P S. hope you got home ok BIG DAVE STEELER....no time for games on the bus hey....nah you was far to happy for them i bet!!!!
