because its a loss, people have things to discuss.... such as why we lost. FWIW.... yea maybe people should say in the game threads 'we won because we did this'... buts usually blindly obvious as to why we won, people will have different views on why we lost Far too simplistic, for example, why did we win on saturday, in the thread it ranges from well they gave up after the fourth, they ran out of steam, we got our A game together in the third, we were rubbish for the first ten. Their NM had a mare! KSP was good for once+ other varied reasons including having a pop at Jade's petulant moment. Whereas with the loss many more people agreed that KSP might want three back and the usual suspects were not up to it,. So with a loss you tend to get the same comments echoed by a few people , so actually the thread has far less variety and less to talk about! My suggestion might be that we have some posters on here who think, that we just need to turn up to win a game, as can be seen with the usual OTT predicted scores for any games. So when we do win, they think well no need to comment just doing what they are paid for, or supposed to do. When we lose though they need a scapegoat or many scapegoats rather than on the night Blaze played better or had the luck!

I just think it's funny that's all. Yeah I see what you are saying about the game updates, but you get what I mean though. Same team one night are heroes for winning, same team next night (despite giving it their all which is all we can ask) are in need of replacing (in some cases). Just makes me laugh, tis all. Surprised Milky hasn't been on, maybe he is on his 105th holiday this year1

+1 i was about to say, didn t follow last nights games, come on this morning, 10 + pages !! panthers must have lost It is about as predictable as knowing Forest are on a good run and Detroit Redwings not so good judging by how many posts you have or haven't made on the respective threads..................

12 pages = loss 6 pages = win Wonder what all the extra chatter is all about? Lasts nights game was a road game. Saturdays was an home game. First 6 pages of this game was updates from the skydome as a lot of fans were not there. Saturdays game needed no updates as most fans were at the game. hence the extra 6 pages. Simple.........? And not to forget about the two extra pages from cagers speculating as to why this thread has more pages than saturday nights winning thread pages

Another annoying yet probably legitimate thing was when Corey called a time out the music was turned up a few notches together with the 'countdown' clock theme blasting out. Whether the our players were put off I couldnt say. can't say the music was turned up that loud, i could barely hear the countdown clock, but the blaze fans make as much noise as humanly possible.

which is ok. but during a time out for either team there should be no music or announcements at all if I remember correctly?
Crowd noise is fine

IIRC music can be played at anytime during the evening except during play and penalty shots.....it can even be played whilst a player is down injured but thankfully 99.9% show common courtesy during this time and not play music. Culd be wrong though

Playing music during a visiting team's time-out always struck me as a good idea (I like the Countdown idea too).

I wasnt there on Sunday, but believe they had previously been told that they could not play music over a time out. The crowd however, will be making as much noise as they possibly can.
Perhaps they are going back to their old ways.

172 No music shall be played while the game is in progress, or during the time outs.

to be fair the piece of music ( countdown) is actually 30 seconds worth and fits the purpose as more than one team will try and take the mick with having extra seconds for their team talk.
Also, something i noticed was on Sunday was the speakers by the away fans and Block ten are VERY loud and have a hell of a bass boost compared to the ones where i sit ( Block 14 just above the away benches )...i only noticed this as i went to see my son as he sat there with his fellow Choir members who sang the anthem on sunday.
we do make a hell of a noise when a time out is called and have done that since the Playoff 2nd leg qualifier against Newcastle. ( one hell of a game )
If there was such a Ruling with the EIHL rule book , dont you think the Ref would have mentioned it at the time ?

I saw (and somewhere have) the first seasons "rule book" it wasn't about rules, more about fines / club requirements etc It did however mention no music during a time out. As for the speakers being louder near away blocks, not a bad idea, makes any noise by them drown out, whilst the rest of the arena can make noise uninhibited, so to speak.

Its pretty typical of coventry to flount rules at home though, Thomson seems to think he can do whatever he likes there up to and including berating refs who he feels arent favouring the home side...

Lets be honest though, Thomson doesn't need to be on home patch to do that. He is the same at the NIC, constantly shouting for calls that aren't there and berating refs at every opportunity. Funnily enough he seems significantly quieter if a certain scotsman is wearing the stripes. Wonder why that is. I say if you can't beat them, join them.... get someone loud and not scared to mouth off at refs behind the bench. I'm more than happy to shout from the bench instead of the stands :-)

exactly! a player coach cant mouth off at the refs as hes MORE likely to get a penalty than the bench coach shouting off the bench.
I dont mind breaking the rules (if it is a rule, im sure I heard it somewhere though) as long as we do the same.
Can someone sat behind the away bench bring a drum and smash it loudly at every team huddle?

They have enough problems calling things on the ice, without having to deal with things that happen off it.
