I just hate mis-spelling... at least I admit it when I'm not sure of the spelling.

Watching it on my battered old ramshackle of a PC wasn't really too revealing. I'm afraid all I could pick out was what appeared to be Clouthier (happy Helen? ) gently stroking and teasing the hair of Skiehar against the boards in what appears to be a tender and private moment between the pair. However, my eyesight isn't the best so perhaps it was a deliberate act of thuggery, if someone wishes to buy me a new PC then i'll quite happily deliberate on the matter.

Wasn't too nice...but it could have been a lot worse! 1 or 2 games max IMO.

I have watched the video and the first impression is that Clouthier uses his fingers quite deliberately to cause pain/discomfort . Being able to enhance the image in size and alter the speed it then appears to me that initially Clouthier does quite deliberately abuse Skiehars face at which point the linesman tries to intervene . Immediately Clouthier is then clearly seen to be almost playfully tousling Skihars hair. My opinion is Clouthier has realised his initial actions were a serious transgression and was attempting to disguise/diffuse his behaviour. But he is far too late his actions were caught on camera and this matter should be fairly easy for the nonpowers that be to punish. One things for sure it was not the usual hardmen exchange

Agree 100% with Invincible. What ever he did, he should be looking at a big ban. In my opinion, and I have now watched it a few times x 100, there IS gouging, & fishhooking to the mouth. Dirty .......!

Having seen the larger screen clip im pretty convinced that there wasnt any eye gouging there. Skiehar does seem to be in discomfort but that could just be due to having his head pushed back, not something i would say is all that dirty!
Pretty definite "fish hook" though so deserves the match penalty. From seeing that i wouldnt really expect him to get any more than a 2 match ban but it depends on how the powers that be see it!

The initial video didn't prove anything but the later versions don't look so good for Cloots (I'm ducking the spelling issue Helen ) Still difficult to tell exactly what happened. If people are disagreeing after blowing up the images and studying freeze frames then it doesn't seem to be clear cut. The linesman didn't seem to like what he saw - he suddenly jumped in to separate them after Cloots hand to the face. He was well placed to see what went on too. It may well be the testimony of the linesman that decides the outcome.

Linesman had a great view and Clouthier seems to have been a very naughty boy IMO. Now without wishing to sound biased it does seem to be Sheffield fans saying it's no big deal and everyone else saying Clouthier is in trouble which is quite understandable. I do however, having watched the video, think there's some people trying to convince themselves that nothing happened as much as they are trying to convince others.
Who knows what will come of it, probably will end up at a couple of games, but I don't think there could be any complaints if the ban hit double figures. Just my opinion having watched the vid.

Something went on there is no doubt, gouging? for me no. Hand on the face and fingers over the eyes yes, fishhook, definitely; and it's at that point the lino jumps in.
I wouldn't say it's Steelers saying he didn't and the rest saying he did Andy, can you get on THF or any of the fight forums? The consensus on those multi team boards seems to be 65 - 70% against any clear gouging.
At the end of the day, if the powers that be deem further sanction necessary, that will do me.

I have watched the video and the first impression is that Clouthier uses his fingers quite deliberately to cause pain/discomfort . Any idea what Skiehar was trying to do with his fists when he steamed into Clouthier? Get a grip people, this was two big blokes trying to batter each other...as is the case with hockey fights. A punch to the face would do far more damage than a little pull to the inside of the mouth. As far as I'm concerned Cloots was guilty of trying to gain an unfair advantage in a fight (fighting....which is also illegal). I'm with Shaggy, what he did was a bit girlie....although I won't be telling him. I think both Skiehar and Cloots ended up with a few cuts and bruises from their fight, but nothing more than you'd expect when two big blokes trade blows. I've no big problem with the match penalty, Cloots fought dirty (if there's such a thing), I wouldn't moan if it was upgraded by a game or two, but anymore would be ridiculous in my book. If Cloots gets more than 3 games, then the next time a player throws a blind side punch, a high stick, an elbow that causes damage, we've got to be looking at 10 games.....with short benches as it is, the quality of the product could become very poor in the future. Regards Doom

For once Doom I totally disagree with you. Its very true a punch to the side of the head would probably have done more damage, so why do something so cheap? Its not the fact that it hurt him thats the issue, its fighting dirty. A precedent can be set here because weve not had this for a very long time so IMO anything less than 2/3 games is a disgrace and someones likely to do it again, theres no place for it.
I like a hockey fight as much as the next person, iv been in a few myself and theres absolutely no room for things like that. I agree blindsiding should be a big ban but thats a debate for another day. Its not like he was hanging on for dear life and tried a cheap shot to get himself an edge, there was absolutely no need for it.
Fighters like Clouthier and Shmyr can pride themself on being heavyweight fighters who trade punches, Id be disgraced if my teams enforcer ever did something like that and If I was on the EIHA board id be asking him to explain his actions and what was going through his mind
