Well that was a great nights entertainment! Right from the off with Bruce and Hewitt going at it...yes Hewitt got the take down via a wrestle but Bruce landed far more punches. Some great goals all round, Bruce's short handed goal was a beauty as was Jade's screamer from a great Gascon pass. I felt all the Steeler's goals were all soft and St Pierre would want at least 2 back but all round they were pretty terrible, how many times did the puck go out the zone when they were on the PP?! Verner....very average...looked very shakey all night. I just hope we havent got burn out for tomorrow now. The new guy looked to have some nice outlet passes on him and was very positionally sound...yes maybe a bit slow but then again most are when they have just come off a plane! Great hit by Levers by the bench..he deserved his MOM,he had a blinder! Good atmosphere but shame we didnt really rub it in how bad they were that much

The turning point for me was Thomas bricking himself and clinging onto the linesman for dear life when D'Amour was after him. It just showed how little fight and team spirit Steelers had, and must have been a boost to our lot and right blow to their lot. Even funnier because it was Thomas who loves playing the big man when he's in no danger or has somebody backing him up, but runs a mile when he has to answer the bell. one thing about this i couldnt believe was the steelers fans applauded him for being a chicken... embarrassing that thats all theyve got to applaud

Good game; Great result; Larocque looked calm and collected on D - good distribution! He'll do for me! ;D Hope nobody from Trading Standards was there though - Ken's "It's like this every night" spiel - what a load of ...... tosh! In your dreams maybe, but remember most of us saw the Newcastle game too Ken!

Did anyone else notice Cory wasn't the last man off the ice at the end of warm-up tonight?
The new routine obviously worked!

After tonights game, I would say that Hubbauer is the backbone of Steelers, not that they will use it to their advantage.
At first I did think Steelers had come to the game with the mindset of trying to get at least something out of the game, but after a while they looked useless and although we always moan that we never have a plan 'b' tonight Steelers looked as though they didn't even have a plan 'z'
Was a bit anxious of the game to start with because at times it looked like it would go either way, but in the end there was only one team in it and that proved with the scoreline.
I'm liking our new defenseman, not with their first goal of course, but credit where credit is due, he come and did his job, was slightly disappointed that he was swapped with Toneys, because I quite like Toneys, always reminds me of Mike Rees, who was a good defenseman whilst he was here, but I don't know what it is this season, nobody has mentioned anything, Toneys seems half the player he was last year.
Would have liked to have seen Larocque show his true colours, but with Steelers lacking an out and out guy, bar Cruikshank who seems to have lost his edge this season, no wonder he didn't get a good opportunity.

Cruikshank who seems to have lost his edge this season, no wonder he didn't get a good opportunity. he has turned into a fag... showing his true colours this year he doesnt have to answer for silly person finnerty's actions so is just shying away... bergin offered him after the first fight and turned it down and then did for the rest of the game if he was a proper tough guy when they were 6-2 down he would have gone and sent some message but he didn't... very happy he is not on our team

So are the injuries to Mann and Meyers bad, or will they be in the line up for Newcastle.
We heard Toneys had been rested because of an ankle injury.
Never seen so few Steelers fans come to a league game before.
Some corking goals, and if we hadnt sat back in the third could have had double figures.

Never seen so few Steelers fans come to a league game before. To be fair they brought more than i thought they would...and they way they have been playing it was never going to be the usual number.

After the first period i thought we were going to be in for a great tight game and then we came out for the second a different team and it was an absolute embarrassment.
For the second period you guys were all over us forcing mistakes and capitalizing on your chances and we just had no answer. Richardson and D'Amour were throwing themselves about and not one of our team stood up and did anything about it apart from moaning to Carson hoping he would call something.
No spark and no emotion. With guys like Legue and Hubbauer the talent up front is there but the poor D has destroyed the teams confidence. If they keep this up im going to have a sprained neck from the amount of times i have been shaking my head in disappointment recently.
Special mention has to go to one of your guys i think it was Levers for the hit on Hewitt that flipped him onto his head. Seemed to go in slow motion and looked great.
Congrats on victory, easily deserved.

Always great to beat the Steelers, good energy in the performance too. Took our foot off in the 3rd and let them back in a bit, but comfortable in the end. Probably the worst I've ever seen the Steelers play, long may it continue

Well well well. It's the first time in recent weeks I actually have gone to a panthers match feeling rather optimistic, and yes I did know before hand we was playing them lot ;D And how right many of us proved to be.
Overall I think, apart from the odd spell, I thought we played as a team for the majority of the game. We seemed to find each other quite well and passed stick to stick which in recent weeks has seemed to be absent from most of the players' games.
However the best players for me tonight was Levers. Skated all night long and gave 110%. McAslan got on with the job tonight and never stopped skating either. Even though it's probably a biased view, I thought he had a top game tonight and kudos to him. Clarkey seems to be finally finding his form, although I thought he was playing crap at the start of the season, I wasn't too worried because he usually comes out the blocks well and fades away, and you don't need that in a goalscorer come february time. Although he got a few assists tonight, though Jade was very quiet, maybe it was just me.
Mario. To say he got in the country this morning, jesus, I can't wait to see what he's like when he's fully match fit. Might invest in a panthers shirt now just to get his name on my shirt. He seemed to play with D'Amour like they'd been playing together for years, knew each other inside out. He's the physical presence we've been lacking this season. I thought his penalty for the hit in the first period was harsh which unfortunately led to a goal. What was even more ridiculous was some oddones in Block 6 clapped sarcastically when Mario returned out the box.
Sheffield. Your a shambles. No heart, no desire and no hunger. You never looked like winning tonight in my opinion.
Finally. Absolutely loved Levers' hip check on Legue (I think). Pure class and perfectly timed.
Same again tomorrow lads!

Sheffield are crap, we won quite easily and were even allowed to coast in third gear for 20 minutes.

Enjoyable game tonight and obviously a very pleasing end result! Good on Richo for stepping up and setting the tone early doors. Not a classic fight but he got a few good hits in and didnt seem to get a glove laid on him so id say a Panthers win on that one. The first period was a strange one; we heavily outshot them and Verner made some big saves but I went into the interval feeling slightly fortunate to be tied. After the first 5 mins, the Steelers outworked us and seemed to be first to every puck. They seemed really up for it and I was worried! In the second however, we were outstanding and Sheffield were poor (maybe they had tired themselves in the first). We were in complete control for 20 mins and that killed the game. As usual we made incredibly hard work of it in the 3rd. In hindsight I guess there was no real danger with a 3 goal lead but coming out with an attitude like we did in that period, for me was a big mistake. After we scored the 6th we basically defended (and not overly convincingly) for 15 minutes. We forgot how to play good hockey and were content to hack the puck around. Thankfully we weren't made to pay but it was a shame to revert to that style after such a complete performance as in the 2nd. Some great goals tonight; a fantastic pass by Gascon on one at the block 10 end (sorry, cant remember the scorer), a great half volley by Clarkie and of course the Brucie special! Special mention too for Levers, he was awesome tonight, probably the best I have ever seen him play. He skated hard all night, was in the faces of the Steelers players, broke up play after play and was generally involved in all that was good about our play. The only downside is the injuries with Mann and perhaps more worryingly, Meyers not seeing out the game, but I guess it's wait and see for news on those. One final mention for Hubbauer as I was really impressed with him tonight. Sadly for him his team mates didn't match his work rate and passion but he deserved his 2 goals and as with Levers the man of the match that came with it. Corey, you think we could make room for this guy?! Well done Panthers! couldnt agree more. just to add KSP still worries me. There were some soft goals tonight. Ill let him off though. Its so much better to beat steelers as they are now, people were saying yesterday we needthis to get back on track, its just a bonus it also knocks them off theirs.
