Does look like slashing to me in the slow-mo. Not worthy of a match penalty though given what is normally called during a game.

These should never be during the game imo. It should be on the hooter at the end of the first period.

So ref's dish out a match penalty consistence with the rulebook. It then goes to DOPS to decide whether to top up ... is there a published guide that we can make reference to?

I have been ok with the 'tactic' to leave one import slot open, with the intent to fill once we had identified the best area to fill, and once the nhl/ahl/del etc had shaken themselves out, and hope that we could pick up some good talent. Similar to other views though I'm somewhat disillusioned at the fact we have not properly addressed the import injuries given the seriousness of each of them, and am now of the thinking that now is the time to either fill the final import slot and/or get a temporary replacement in for Shultz.
Relative to Steelers signing the temporary nettie, the story seems to be his team in Khazakstan have released all their imports due to financial difficulties. I wonder if any of them are suitable and affordable?

In the star, simmsey is saying plante is out for a month, and they are actively looking for experienced cover.
Regarding the ad, I was wondering if Stewart might have thrown the towel in at blaze. Would be another timed to perfection pick up for steelers.

I don't get all this hysteria about the length of time it took for the stretcher to arrive. I've seen quite a few bad injuries happen on sports fields and in my experience the first thing to be done is a proper assessment of what's happened. Moving the patient without first finding out what's happened can often cause more damage. Schultz was obviously distressed but would getting him off the ice two minutes quicker have made a lot of difference to his treatment? No. In my opinion we did exactly the right thing, find out what was wrong then move him. If we could look back at the footage in real time then I think you'd all be surprised at how quickly it actually happened. There are a few folks on here who I think work in the medical profession (tootootrain is one I think) and I'm pretty sure they'd agree with me. First of all, I am likely one of the least medical people I know, and I wasn't at the game (but followed it on twitter and felt peoples anxiety at the 'apparent' delay in getting a stretcher and medical help to Shultz). I would agree that proper assessment should be made before moving the patient in ensuring you do not make an injury worse. So I guess he questions from that would be a) did that on-ice assessment by a competent person / medical professional come quickly enough? and b) was the stretcher available once the assessment had concluded that he could be moved, or was there then a significant delay? I personally don't know the answers to either.

[quote author=" Ghost" Last night was the killer, largely because you were (or should have been) there for the taking. You had several guys playing out of position and were short on forward and D lines, yet still managed to outwork the Panthers. I would hope that's what will hurt them. [/quote] They had Lawrence and Hay covering their 2 import injuries of Duco and Fretter, so had a full complement of imports though their lines would have been disrupted. Missing 1 Brit, Dowd.

I have a question, one that is totally not a hot-topic right now. In my view the defining principle of a league system is that every team plays each other an equal amount of times. It still annoys me that there is disparity in the league set up again this year such that any strong team in a weak conference could unfairly take the league title. Whilst this may not happen again this year, is there anything we fans can do to persuade the league that this needs to be addressed for 2016/17 season before we get a 'its too late to do anything about it now' response? You can use this on a slow-news-week Jono.

Yesterdays Statement read as ... Following the games at the weekend, the following penalties will be reviewed by the Elite League Department of Player Safety...
Braehead v Fife 9/10/15 - Fife #22 Jeff Lee 5 + Game Checking From Behind
Manchester v Edinburgh 10/10/15 - Edinburgh #84 Kyle Bigos Match Penalty Fighting
Manchester v Edinburgh 10/10/15 - Manchester #53 Igor Bobcek 2+10 Checking to the Head
Braehead v Dundee 10/10/15 - Dundee #20 Mikael Lidhammar 2+10 Checking to the Head
Edinburgh v Manchester 11/10/15 - Edinburgh #19 Ryan Hayes 2+10 Checking to the Head
Edinburgh v Manchester 11/10/15 - Edinburgh #54 Kyle Flemington Game Penalty Third Man In
With Edinburgh playing in Sheffield on Wednesday, results of the reviews will be released on Tuesday evening."
What gets me, and with reference to the final sentence, is with Fife playing on Saturday why did Lee's penalty not get reviewed prior to that game. And with the penalties being reviewed from Saturday night, surely they should also have been done before Sunday. Either they are going to work to a timescale to review prior the offending players next game, or they are not. If they are just going to do it on a weekly basis, I think the league should tell us. It looks like they have rushed the Caps ones through because they are playing Wednesday, but clearly there wasn't sufficient reason to rush for their Sunday game? Is Wednesday the cut off? What if it had been a Tuesday game?
You could also argue, I guess that if a match penalty is served on the night, because occasionally these are not upheld by DOPS, then these should be 'postponed' pending DOPS review?

Talking of commentators,I would rather have even GM or Eddie over Aarron Murphy any day. That bloke drives me absolutely nuts with the constant over use of words like magnificent, stanza, biscuit etc and phrases about cookie jars and where grandma keeps the good whiskey ! I'd agree with this also, another cliché-man that does my head in at times.

Nice, clean and fresh feel to it. Only suggestion i'd make is order your dated features with the most recent at the top. Other than that, I like it.

Thoroughly enjoyed that game of hockey. I actually like it when the refs leave the whistle in the pocket and let the game flow wrt the minor penalties. As said above the 10min Dimmen penalty, and the calling of a penalty shot were harsh though.

My belief was it was a back/neck injury suffered in pre-season that was likely to put him out of action for at least 2months. He went back to Canada to recuperate, and never returned. What happened whilst he was recuperating I don't know. He hasn't played a professional game since looking at EP, so I guess he never fully recovered, with Panthers possibly forcing his retirement based on medical information going their way?
