Given Panthers' indifferent form last weekend, I felt duty bound to dig a little into our CC opponents results since returning from Rouen, and it has provided some interesting, if inconclusive, findings: ROUENLost 4-6 to HC Amiens Somme (A - 21 Oct) SONDERJYSKEWon 2-1 (after O/T) over Esbjerg fB Ishockey (H - 20 Oct) Lost 1-5 to AaB Ishockey (A - 22 Oct) RED BULLS SALZBURGLost 3-4 (after O/T) to HK Acroni Jesenice (A - 18 Oct) Won 4-1 over HC Tirol Innsbruck (H - 20 Oct) Lost 4-5 (after O/T) to EC KAC Klagenfurt (A - 22 Oct) What does it prove? Not a lot really, apart from it does show that every team involved in the Rouen Tournament hasn't exactly been excelling on the domestic front in the week since the CC. Perhaps our friend from Belfast may have a point?

But if you look at results prior to the Continental Cup, every team had lost a game anyway. We play down in Basingstoke on a Saturday then have to travel up to Newcastle on the Sunday. If we lose in Newcastle, some fans will probably be moaning that it was two road trips in a row that caused it? Teams will lose games - where and when is of no real importance. It's the position at the end of the season that matters.

snip - It's the position at the end of the season that matters. And where do you predict that will be?

OK then, in the 12 games following the CC two years ago, the results were:-
Won 9 Lost 3
However, the next 12 games results were:-
Won 3 Drawn 3 Lost 6
That does nothing to prove the CC was the cause of our defeats.

Whats to say that if we didnt go to Rouen that we would have lost the two league games that we would have played on the Sat and Sun, and be in a worse situation than we are now?
To me the biggest problem is the new lines that Ellis has put together. We go from three lines all posing a scoring threat down to one, and the one that poses the threat has the two snipers on it that are more likely to shoot than pass to one another. Whether its because Petricko is injured or not, the new lines are clearly not working.

Teams will lose games - where and when is of no real importance. I dont think Alex Ferguson would agree with you there 7 January 1990 Nottm Forest 0 Manchester Utd 1 (I bet you were at that game Lucy)

Interesting comparison though. Before CC: GP8 Won 5 OW 1 Lost 0 OL 2 AGF over 4.2 AGA 3 After CC Won 0 OW 0 Lost 2 OL 2 AGF 1.8 AGA 3.25

To be honest all the stats are irrelevant. The bottom line is we've lost eight in a row and that needs addressing.
