Not a whole lot to look at in terms of hockey action in this photo, but it does illustrate how 'in yer face' the crowd was in the old place, especially behind the goal at the other end to the stage.

26 October 1985. Panthers 6 Whitley Warriors 4. Rare photo of Chris Brinster, who performed with such distinction for Dundee, guesting for us while Mike Urquhart was injured. Good game this one. Crapper 2+4/Keyes 3+2, big fight at the end with seven players thrown out including Whitley's Alan Booth on a gross for 'making a travesty of the game'. Isn't that what Sheffield did in this year's final?

24 January 1986. Panthers 7 Whitley Warriors 3. Dwayne Keward just fails to score past the levitating Whitley goalie Peter Graham.

1 February 1986. Panthers 5 Durham Wasps 9. A very young looking Ian Cooper looks over Dave Hutchinson as he ties up a similarly young looking Anthony Johnson. Durham were a real powerhouse at this time, helped this season by John Ciotti, who scored 132 goals in the season, about 128 of which were tips in front of goal. He was the epitome of the immovable obstacle in front of goal, to devastating effect.

Durham's Paul Smith moves in to threaten Panthers' goal, but fails to convert.

8 February 1985. Panthers 7 Dundee Rockets 5. The desolation of conceding a goal in hockey, demonstrated here by (L to R) Martin McKay, Roch Bois and Louis Cote. Anyone remember Bois? A winger, and by 'eck he was fast.

Gavin Fraser looks pleased as he comes out from behind the net just in time to see the puck fly inside McKay's right hand post.

1 April 1986. Panthers 9 Peterborough Pirates 7. Panthers struggled to overcome a stubborn Pirates in this game. Peterborough had been promoted to the Premier League this season and compiled a 1-33-2 record. The gulf between the two leagues was too large at this time. Note in the background John Bremner in the winger role to which Alex converted him from defence. Having put up for years with opposing wingers chasing him into the corners, Brem took to his new role with an enthusiasm driven by vengeance. (Got to say I'm not sure about the Pirates' player's position in the face-off - appears to be standing next to the lino)

Couple of pics of Brem to finish this batch. I have to say that Cleveland player is a brave lad looking at Brem like that. Celebrating one of Jamie Crapper's many goals.
