Remember Brashear was at his best then and he was probobly the hardest guy in the league at that time, Craighead only took him on in an attempt to prove himself.
As for saying he got hammerd...I don't think so, he definatly didn't win but before the refs split it up he got Brashear down and thats where he would have probobly unloaded on him (not to say he'd win but he'd be making more hits then in that video)

A lot of the punches being thrown by Brashear seemed not to connect, and were like those dished out by WWE wrestlers.

I seem to remember JC saying that Donald Brashear was the toughest player he ever fought.
I think it was a clear win for Brashear but JC didn`t do too badly and like has been said already,a lot of the shots missed.I don`t think he did too bad(even though I put that he got hammered,slight exaggeration on my part )
A lot of the overhead punches were inside of the knuckles on the top of the head and seemed to be done for effect rather than dishing out any significant hurt. One shot to the side of the head connected, but it was basically a points win for Brashear with no real damage done.

obviously Brash had the upper hand but only because he wouldnt stop throwing but JC couldnt do anything but hold on and try and wrestle for a better position which he did but then the linos come in, imo its Edge Brash in a nothing fight, barely a punch was landed.
