Just to say to Radio Nottingham and Chris Ellis, thank you very much for the coverage in Rouen. It was just brilliant for us fans not able to make it out there. To hear the fans shouting out for our beloved Panthers was amazing, and they truely made some noise among them, bet they all suffering with sore throats and wanging headaches, but they did us a proud as did the team and everyone concerned. Thank you once again!!!!

A quality performance between the pipes from Woolly, who deserved his MOM.
Panthers never gave up and the experience that the younger players will take out of this is invaluable.
The players and coaches have picked up on areas that we can improve upon, so expect to see a few new moves next weekend.
Some new songs that will be brought back to the arena, and hopefully will be embraced by all in the stadium.
Despite losing all three the players and fans did Nottingham proud this weekend, and we will go on and build from it.

Having got back a couple of hours ago, thought I'd post my views on the weekend.
Rouen
Nice place, typically sprawling and covered with doggie poo, but a good food fair, some lovely old buildings and some nice restaurants. A bottle of decent red for 9 Euros compared favourably to the 6.5 Euros we had to pay for a Corona in the Irish Bar!
The hockey
A steep learning curve here. I think those of us who were in Amiens 2 years ago would all say that the overall standard was better, and I think we all thought we'd do better here. It was a shame the Rouen game came first. I think our guys were too "charged up" and Rouen's top line, whilst being extremely quick, had a night when everything they did turned to gold. We were't helped by some of our guys having off days - McAslan and Neilson in particular, and we also gave up too much possession. The last couple of minutes of the 1st period were the killer when we conceded 2 goals, and were left chasing the game. Speaking to Ellie and the players, I'm not sure it went as far as the"Riot Act" afterwards as suggested by the Panthers website; the players were really down and they knew where it had gone wrong.
Salzburg played 100% better against us than they had against the Danes. The reffing wasn't good, with an obvious interference on Matt Myers going unpunished and the Austrians scoring on the next attack. Reference the icing call referred to earlier in this thread - the face off went down our end because of a deliberate offside; and Ellie was always going to ice once Calle was injured so he had four lines to go to. The 2nd period was probably our best of the weekend, and credit should be given for getting it back to 3-2 (as it should for getting to 4-2 the previous night), but the Austrians were sharper, fitter and stronger, winning most of the 50:50s, and looked a good unit. Shame they didn't bring a single fan!.
The Danes were similarly sronger and their powerplay was much more effective than ours, but we certainly had them rattled when we got back to 3-2.
Ellie said afterwards that he's going to up the fitness work and look at a different Powerplay plan, and I'm sure that we will have a better team because of it. Apart from the scores and our powerplay, my view is that there are only plusses coming out of this weekend.
Our goaltending was awesome. Evan was MoM on Saturday night and deservedly so. Woolly was equally outstanding on Sunday - I saw him play at Romford ealier in the season, and he has a confidence about him now - shared by the players I might add- that, added to his improving ability, means we have a very capable backup nettie.
I thought we began to see signs that Rod Stevens is approaching full fitness; some of his bursts of speed were lightning quick.
The Brits as a whole did well, although I thought Mopes and Meyers looked a little behind the play at times. James Ferrara looked to lack a bit of confidence, but he is the latest recruit. Cooke and Neil are developing well and Matt Myers was as committed as ever.
The fans were magnificent, and much appreciated by the team. I was sat opposite the block of Panthers Fans and the sight of them and the noise they made was truly great.
Funniest moment of the weekend - I was sat next to GM doing his radio commentary in the final game when the fans started chanting "Calle, Calle, give us a wave". Up jumps GM, clearly having misheard, and starts waving to the fans - priceless.
No doubt various other Fans Forums will be gloating about our 3 defeats, but at least we were there, and we left with our heads held high, with the reputation of our club and its supporters enhanced. Don't be surprised if the Moose becomes part of Danish Ice Hockey!
A word must be said about the organisation - excellent. All fairly low key, but efficient. The beer tent outside was a brilliant idea.
Let's hope we qualify as of right next year and put what we've learnt this weekend to good use

Got back about 4pm. Sore throat, sore liver, sore everything!! lol
What an amazing weekend!!! Made all the better by the Bath incident experienced by myself and Simon!! Haha
How Keefe is still walking is beyond me!!
The guys tried hard enough but the gulf in class and budget was evident. To say that some of the Salzburg players are earning £100,000 a year, our guys did quite well.
Will write a better report when I fully regain full usage of my brain...................
EDIT: And who ever claims that Drums arent a good idea they ought to have been there! The Danes and French never stopped beating them and it sounded great.
And before anyone says theres nowhere for them, they could to behind the goal at the Dancers' end and isnt there a coupl eof gantries raised up where the seating ends???

Fantastic few days, but am feeling very knackered now. Eventhough we lost all three games, the boys effort can't be challenged - the other teams just had better fitness and ability.

Just got back. Horrid trip back due to the weekend finally catching up with me, and the fact that its all over.
As matt said, need brain to get working again before i do a full post, but i will briefly say a few things.
Matt, im suprised im still standing, french sprite is a killer.
The rouen outfit did themself proud, Guy Fournier was an absolutly brilliant host, and a huge thankyou for making all the nottigham fans proud.
The rouen fans and rink helpers, again thankyou, thankyou for putting up with our poor french and excessive drinking, although i think the nottingham fans have pumped enough beer tokens into rouen this weekend that the city bars could close.
The Danes..... erm.... they are scrary, strange, wonderful people, and the relationship forged between nottingham and sondersjiek (spelling), is one i couldnt have ever seen coming. Such a good one that a group of vojens fans are coming over here and a group of us are talking about going over there.
Nottingham fans, well done, well done for making the name of nottingham a good one, and im so proud to have been one of the fans over there that have made the panthers proud. The noise was unreal, the chants different and the attitude of the fans remarkable. Sorry about the nakedness, seemed like a good idea at the time. Oh, and sorry about the skinny dipping, again, seemed like a good idea, although it did sober me up very quickly. Lets take this vibe and carry it on through the rest of the season.
The team, cant fault them, they played hard and played proud. They lost the 3 because the others were simply so so good. Be proud of the boys, they did us proud. Simoes is an absolute legend, and a true panther player, hope he stays for many years to come.
Anyway, more later, i need more asprin and more water....

Well Big T is back home after his adventures in Rouen, and boy i am tired
As for Rouen nice city a lot bigger than Amien but was expensive on the drinks front especially the blue lagoon cocktails i was drinking. also if you book hotel on the internet like i did make sure that your room has a toilet!!! mine did'nt, sink came in handy at 3am!!( hotel de paris) as for the hockey , well i was proberley expecting to much from them with way game went in Amien and the position were in at the moment , so i was a bit dissapointed but i know that they gave there all against better teams , which i very proud to wear a panthers shirt this weekend.
special mentions go out to the rest of the panthers fans especially warren, keefe and rest of the pandas you was fantastic.
and finally to the crazy Danes they was awsome , i could not go anywere in Rouen with out some danish fans shouting LITTLE JOHN LITTLE JOHN LITTLE JOHN!!!! they was fantastic and hope you home safe.. cheers Big T

Great weekend, saw lots of people and names with faces etc. Every single fan over there made me fiercley proud to be a panther.
Singing the national anthem was amazing and I think the players showed their appreciation.
I wont go into much detail, needless to say the Danes, the French, the players, the rink staff and all the fans made it a truly unforgettable weekend and everyone will have their own stories. LPE TILL I DIE!
The matches werent what I normally like to see. It was a very european game and we didnt really (until the last match) throw any big checks and I think that was partly our downfall. Shouldve just hit em hard from the off and sod the penalties. That said I thought that might make Schmyr redundant but he has got some great stickwork and its bloody hard to stop him.
McAslan, Clarkie and Stevens all showed what high calibre players they are.
So we didnt win. I still think that if we turned out a performance like that week in week out we would be sitting pretty at the top of the league for a long time to come.

An absolute fantastic weekend, we went thursday and came back last night - made a break of it!. Rouen is far bigger than Amiens with far more amenities , with thankfully cafe's open on sunday. Beautiful place, very authentic, market fantastic!!!.
The Panthers were as good as can be expected, the other teams were strides ahead. Some fantastic hockey was played. The panthers fans were a credit to the club, which was undoubtedly appreciated by the players. Neilson ripping it out of Clarkey singing to him "David Clarke number one Brit", players mingling with the fans around the beer/food tents outside the arena. This team really give off good vibes and have great team spirit. Told by a couple of players that Rouen was only to gain experience and keep match fit, they weren't too bothered about winning. They did us proud - can't wait for next game.
The Danes were so friendly, met some lovely people from all clubs including our own.
Hugged by Keefe and two other sweaty Pandas - nice!!
Bumped into Dave Page hunting around Rouen for an adaptor, only to find lots of pants and sock shops, gave him my spare one.
Hope we get to go again - just a FAB weekend.

Come on Dave, get the pictures online.
I want to see what the flag, balloons and tickertape looked like from the other side of the arena as the team came out for the last game.
