Not a dig at either of the guys loving it but dont you think its pathetic? Whats great about dangerous checks on goalies?
A goalie that gets in the way of the run of play is fair game, being checked behind his net because they attacker is fustrated with the score line is not really acceptable. Didnt we berate Craighead for the same reasons? But for Ducks to retaliate like that was even more stupid. On Flames goalie who had nothing to do with the original incident, just because he is in net is pathetic.
Dont get me wrong, some of the fights are cracking fights but the fact it took 20 mins to play the last 5 mins of a game and the reasoning behind the fights really lowers my estimation of the players instigating it

I understand what you are saying Teddy but theres no way with guys like Sawyer on the bench your going to let your team be pushed around. The playoffs are about mind games and working hard up until the dying seconds of game 7, the ducks sent a message that you dont do that to our goalie and get away with it. It was ridiculous what they did but theres no way they could have left it going into the next game.
Craighead, again sent a message dont go after our brits, im the tough guy round here. Very different incidents tho, Craighead didnt attempt to injure at all and Bielik made the most of it(altho he wasnt expected the hit so it wasnt nice!)

I like tough play, but I'm not normally a fan of fights (I'm a lover not a fighter ). But I don't really have a problem with that Craighead incident. It wasn't mindless violence, I think the N/M made a meal of it, JC did it for the right reason. The way he immediately skated into a clear patch of ice and stood there saying "Who wants it then?" sent exactly the right message at that time. Now I've said that, someone will probably trawl through the forum and quote me saying it was disgraceful ... but who says it's only women who get to change their minds

At the time people were shocked by his actions, but as you say,he did it for the right reasons and it sent a message loud and clear.

TBH I still dont agree with it, I loved it at the time because the team I support sent a message but hitting the goalie is a bit of a last resort. I wonder how much of it was pre-meditated and how much of it was JC wound up and Bielik going into the corner, I guess we'll never know

According to the man himself, it was entirely premeditated. Normally roughing up a goalie is enough to wind up any out player (remember a certain Mr. B. Thompson?), so the intention was to provoke the fight he'd been asking for all game, but upon which no-one was prepared to engage. And still nothing came of it even after that which say something about JC's reputation.
