When we saw him at sausage bar he seemed very shy and a little nervous, its hard to remember sometimes that hundreds of people know him and talk to him like an old mate but really he hasn't got a clue who we are, it must be very nerve racking. I was also wondering whether he has got wind of any of the negative posts about him on our forum, that can't do much for his confidence either. I'm sure he'll come good its only 2 games in and they're all still adjusting really.

I think that too many people, whether they admit it (or even realise it?) or not, are judging Lindsay on the results with the Lodndon Racers. Unfair, IMHO.... the team he had in front of him weren't exactly up to the standards of the league, were they? Their defence wasn't up to much, which certainly didn't help to stop the 253 goals they conceded (a whopping 58 more than the next worst - Basingstoke at 195) - but their offence was poor as well, scoring only 106 goals (34 fewer than the next worst - Manchester at 140). 3 wins that season. They tried hard, and I admired them for that... but they just weren't up to it.
Under those circumstances, I'd call Lindsay's save % of 89.4 as being pretty good really... I think a poor goalie would have coughed up a lot more.
Personally, I don't remember a damned thing about Lindsay when he was with London - all I have to go on are the stats (hockeydb.com). Clean sheet as far as I'm concerned... and so far he's not done badly. Better than 6 other goalies in the league so far, and the same as 2 others. Early days...

Yeah and people jumped on Sunny`s back too, i was never his biggest fan but he stepped up when it mattered and won us our last cup , which in large part was down to him.
As Shaggy has mentioned, he is being judged on his performances from his London days, very unfair indeed, Joel Laing wouldn t have had much better figures playing behind that defence.
Too many people i ve spoke to and seen on here say the same thing . " im a bit worried with our netminder" etc and things simular.
Give the guy a chance, he ll come good im confident , im sure all the critisism would stop if he backstopped us to the play off championship.!!
I watched Sheffields game last sat and the performance of Lehman would give me larger cause for concern than EL

I remember when Evan signed for Dundee, after about 2 games I said that I thought he was a terrible goalie and he needed to go. Boy did he prove me wrong!!! Evan came into his game after those two or three bad games and when he did, he was the best netminder in the BNL IMO and he was a huge part of Dundee's success in winning the BNL Play-offs that year, so please do give him a chance and he will show you what he can do.
Someone also touched on the fact he seemed to be quite shy, Evan can be quite shy but that will not stop him from having the time to talk to you guys sign autographs, get photos taken etc and once he gets to know you guys, there will be no stopping him. Evan Lindsey is one of the nicest guys you could meet and his wife is the same, so please make her feel welcome when she arrives as well.
Good luck to you guys this year and I will see you all in Edinburgh next weekend.

There's this other fact people are missing out on.....3 points out of a possible 4! 2 games into the season and we are up there already, so do the team a favour, wait hold your breath on any critism of the team until atleast 10 games in. And if we have only dropped afew points by then, then DO NOT SAY ANYTHING! it doesnt hurt to hold a sharp tongue and watch for abit before weighing in

I think Lindsay is getting a raw deal. he kept us in the game when we pulled back to 3-3 on Sunday. What if Basingstoke had gone 3-4 ahead would we still have won? - who knows. Also Minard shipped 9 goals at the weekend, Cruickshank shipped 8, and Koeing shipped 7 (same as Lindsay). Infact Koeing shipped 4 regulation time goals against Giants, Lindsay 3. Its also worth remembering that we proabably have the most attack minded defense in the league and we coughed up the puck at least 3 times mid ice last weekend. The so called 'experts' seem to rate Minard, Koeing, and Cruickshank way above Lindsay. HL

I am sitting on the fence as it's far too early to make judgement on ANY players.
Althought I was dismayed when he let in some easy goals, but Evan had improve somewhat as the game progress, so I shall look forward when he's gain his confidence. And the defence players sorted themselves out and works with Evans tad bit more.....oh boy!
Perhaps if the rest of panther's player can work with Evans methods of releasing the puck as soon as he stop one so that the game can flow a lots faster....

His first game at the NIC was hardly awe-inspiring but i can remember what he was like for a very very poor London side so i'll certainly be giving him time. I think the hardest point for Evan is that he's replacing a goalie that is the best we've had for a very long time (certainly the best since Trev) and a fans favourite. He's got a lot of work to do but i'm confident he can do it.

I've said it before on an earlier post that he's conceed no more than any of the "good" netties from last year (echo'ed above by HL).
The real question is save %. I don't have the stats for that one though and even then it's not the fairest judge. I'd expect his save % to be lower than most, but I'd only hazard that guess because we spend so long putting pressure. Against the Bison they barely got a real shot off. Outside of powerplays they never set up camp in our end and they only really got clear shots when they broke. Last year Curt got a massive % because the D let other teams set up camp and keep shooting - but they didn't give too many breakaways and they didn't let folks get too close to the net where possible. I don't know about the Giants game but out of the 20 or so shots he got at him against the Bison the majority would be up close and personal (at least that's how I recall it).

I wasnt going to get involved on this one but iv started now Speaking to Ryan Shmyr he said he will be a big game goalie, can win us games on his own. I wasnt going to argue because hes a monstor but maybe he has a point. Weve always stunk the place out on the big occasions since Robins so im pretty happy with that point. One thing I would say tho, he doesnt install confidence. He likes to come out of his net to narrow the angles. Obviously if a rebound comes out to their guy hes screwed, but if he settles down and his D get used to him it wont be a problem. As a D man your taught to clear the net and clear the rebounds so if the D do their job he will be fine. Im not one for stats really when it comes to goalies, Evan just doesnt look confident in his positioning. I think he will be an average goalie but step it up when it comes to the big games
