Yep, thought it was pretty good. My memory doesn't serve well enough for a review but I remember it was good enough to recommend and I'll be recording it so I can watch it again.

I don't really do this intense US drama thing but I did stumble on a pretty good comedy show the other day: 'Important Things with Demetri Martin' (at least I think that's what it's called - it's on basic cable somewhere). It's a 50/50 split between good and meh but when it's good, it's very good.

When it's good it's great, when it's very good it's amazing. I love Demetri Martin. If you like his comedy, try out the late Mitch Hedberg. Legend.

FlashForward has apparently been sold around the world faster than any previous tv show.

Defying Gravity is superb. Ah, there IS someone else who has been watching this! Glad to hear it... Pity there's a better-than-even chance of it being cancelled once the 13 episodes already filmed have been aired, but I'm beginning to get used to that... (Firefly, Brimstone, American Gothic, Threshold, Terminator : Sarah Connor Chronicles, etc) Flash Forward has been a bit pants so far. Actually, I've quite liked what I've seen of it so far. It's not going to be a 'crash-bang' type of series, it's looking like it will follow the current trend of building up slowly. Which I happen to like. I'm actually getting a bit of TV series overload at the moment. What with Dollhouse, Fringe, House, Castle, FlashForward, Stargate Universe, Eastwick, Bones and Defying Gravity - and Sanctuary re-starting tomorrow - that's a lot of current series! ;D And I'm looking forward to 24 in January and Chuck in March as well. Oh, and Eureka back next July. And I've still got Dexter, Lost, Jericho, CSI, Cold Case, Standoff and The Beast queued up in the watched-first-episodes-and-liked-it pile... Still - it's a cheap alternative to going out of an evening!

And I'm looking forward to 24 in January They should mint a medal for the likes of you. I gave up midway through series 2. * - also canned after 13 episodes.

24 isn't bad really, bit ridiculous but fun enough. Series 7 was a mini-recovery but there's little you can do with it really.
They need to end it soon. Bauer can't live forever.
Shaggy, do you mean to say you've only watched the first few episodes of Lost? If so, for shame! It's the greatest programme in the history of television.

Yeah, I think 24 has sort of lost its way a bit... but I still enjoy it. Not as much as several other series, mind - but enough so to look forward to it returning. Yeah, I've only seen the first episode - intrigued enough to give season 1 a try when I get round to it... we'll see how it goes from there. All this over-hyping of Lost put me off the thing... that kind of approach always does. The more heavily-marketed something is (and Lost was VERY heavily marketed!) the more I suspect that it's going to be pants. I still maintain that (in my opinion, anyway) J.K.Rowling and Dan Green are not very good writers... but they've had damned good marketing. (In Rowling's case, I can forgive it... if it gets kids actually reading books!). So I avoided Lost when it came out. I'll see whatI think when I get round to watching season 1... but I'm in no hurry. (As an aside - "greatest programme in the history of television"?? - the nearest I can think of for that title is "Edge Of Darkness". Absolutely brilliant stuff.)

surely Boys from the Blackstuff was the best thing on TV, although the original State of Play was terrific as well

I know it was hyped, but Lost is genuinely the greatest thing i've ever watched. Nothing has ever matched it in terms of casting, score, direction, storyline, mythology, ambition and acting. Everything about it, except a little lul in the third season, is perfect so far. It's changed focus in every season and has just about kept to its own incredible ambitions throughout. Let's hope the end will match up.
They're apparently not going to go for the safe option of a happy ending, so here's hoping.
I love Lost, you should too.
For the record, i think Dan Brown is awful but Rowling is superb at what she does.

remember when i introduced you all to numurous different pleasures, for tv and music? gaslight anthem, the wire, generation kill, well here is the next step in this recommendation train...
Treme. based on the neighbourhood in NOLA, it covers life after hurrican katrina. musicians are broke, peoples lives have been devastated and they all need to get back on their feet. this new show, coming from the the makers of the wire and penned by david simon himself, Treme is set up to be something special. its got a few actors from the wire that cross over (most notably Bunk playing a trombone) but i suggest you jump on this now, if yoou dont want to hear people like me baging on about it 5 years down the line.
after its opening episode, it has been comminsioned for a second season. you know its got to be good if that happens.

It's by the makers of the Wire and one of the biggest premieres of the year Buster, it's not that great a shout. It's also not that great yet.

It's also not that great yet. philistine. i know its by the guys who did the wire, i wrote that in my description, and yes it got one of the biggest premiers, but does that have to do with the wire? or is it due to katrina only happening about 5 years in which so much controversy was stirred? george bush hates black people, remember that? however, i give you this... boom. this is going to be big. but if you want to hear me harping on about how great this show is in 5 or 6 years time, then feel free. if i were you, i'd give it a try right now, after all, even the wire started off and was difficult to get into, and look how that blossomed. and bunk plays the trombone, what else could you want?

Thank me later.

lost failed to keep my interest after the third season. as i understand from those who persevered,, it turns super awesome again but they lost me and im too far out to catch up. and you can forget buying dvd's on the off chance i might like it again. so much potential but when they killed off Adabisi in the first season it was all but game over for me and that show...
