BJ and I went across to Romford on Saturday to watch the Raiders play the Barons. It was a very entertaining game and Dan Scott got an assist and a goal. Raiders won 6-3 but the most annoying thing was Poper yelling 'Skate! skate!' everytime one of the Raiders got the puck. Well durr!
Romford rink is very easy to find (if like me you have a John John), there is a Pizza Hut right across the road and also there is a shopping centre close by called The Brewery that has some eateries in it and the Sainsburys has a Starbucks. Just a bit of info for any of you planning on making the trip on 17th.

They were not so lucky on Sunday night at Solihull. They could of played all week and wouldnt of scored. solihull will be a very hard team to beat at their own barn.
Down point of the game was Daniel been checked from behind at high speed by Manny, and clattering the boards face first. He recovered later on in the game, only for him to get a 16 minute penalty for fighting Rhys McWilliams!

Hoping to get down to Romford for a game or two this season.
The ref was struggling with keeping up with the ZT last night, seemed to concentrating on the more major points and forgetting about the slash/hook/trip etc which led to alot of short tempers.
Seemed to be same in games at all levels this last weekend, with so much to watch out for now it would be better with a 2 ref/2lino situation,as theres going to be alot of things going on behind the refs back which you could see at Solihull.

only for him to get a 16 minute penalty for fighting Rhys McWilliams! Who won mate? Like Carolle said, about even, although if Daniel had of landed the great big haymaker that Rhys just managed to avoid it would of been all over. Think Daniel might have a few more battles on his hands this year due to having played in the Elite league for so long. Already from the crowd and other players on the ice ive heard calls of 'your not in the Elite league now' etc. Think thats why Rhys wanted to fight him!

Basingstoke have a two -way deal with Romford,
so Daniel could be having a few games with them throughout the season.

As a Romford fan I was very impressed with Dan Scott's performances this weekend, he had a Gordie Howe hattrick over the weekend and made an impact. He isn't the finished article as a player yet but has a lot of positives to his game, good size, can skate, not afraid to shoot from the point and can play D or wing. Scott got time on the special teams both games and I reckon he can only benefit from the extra ice time which will hopefully lead to him getting another shot at the EIHL in the future. Looking forward to the challenge game against the Panthers on the 17th.
