Quite a physical game in Newcastle last night. Some very good hitting. 1st period the Blaze looked alot better than the Vipers and finished the period 2-0 after goals from Carlson and Calder. Tasker was given a open net in the 2nd after Koenig went to play the puck behind the net and it bobbled and rolled out straight across the front of his net. The 2nd period ended up 2-1 and then goals from Mhyers and Cornish in the 3rd period gave the Vipers a 3-2 win.
Hanson was the ref and he called everything. ZT will be good if the players can get used to it but alot of the time last night the players where just looking confused when alot of penalties where called. ZT will ruin the first few games as it's call after call but there was alot of good checking last night that was clean and didn't get called so when they are used too it then I think we'll see some good fast physical games.
A couple of fights last night too. Cornish and Ndur lined up next to each other in the 2nd period and as soon as the puck dropped they both dropped the gloves a took off the helmets. A short fight with the win going to Corny Ndur didn't really land any and Corny landed 4 or 5 left hands before they both slipped.
I didn't see what exaxtly started it but later in the 2nd Payette went after Wales and just pummeled him into the ice. The lino's where struggling to pull Payette off and then as Payette was skating to the Penalty box he turned round and just stormed at the Blaze bench. He got cut off by Ndur and slipped and then Ndur gave him a few punches while he was down. Payette got a 5+game for fighting so Andre is on form again this season.
