Has anyone got any info on the future of london hockey or the O2 arena? I saw all the plans last year but now apparently its been taken over by a different company instead of AEG/O2 and there will be no ice and no main arena

I don't think we will see a hockey team at the Dome but have heard plans for a 3000 seat rink at Croydon. Racers hope to be back in 2007/2008 so fingers crossed

There is an ice pad at the new arena. There won't be a team though. The arena is bigger than the MEN and is way too big.
The casino is being built next door. The whole development is huge.

Sounds like a good place for the play-offs ;D No no no and no I can only just afford to go to Nottingham But it would be nice for us Nottingham types to get the chance for an away weekend for once! (and I don't mean Sheffield - apart from the fact I don't like the arena, it's still too close. Oh for the M.E.N. Arena.....)

I still reckon a super-casino would be a great place for the play-offs. Good for publicity too. Also, just imagine: You get there and the first thing you do is put the weekend's beer money on black. You either go home with a healthy liver of a healthy wallet

You either go home with a healthy liver of a healthy wallet Lol It would be a change from going to the castle and Jumpin Jaks at the end of the weekend! I heard there was going to be a small 1500 seat public aswell as the main arena?!

Ok, maybe I should have put it better, basically Sheffield, Nottingham, Manchester etc... are affordable places to have the play offs but London I think could get just a little too expensive, think about it, the play offs cost enough cash as it is, for the none Nottingham supporter.

You people might want to read this, taken from the old london knights website www.knightice.co.uk/aeg_info.htmit says the AEG are redeveloping the arena/dome and are still owners of the London Knights. not looking too deep into it, but this could mean they are to be at the dome once it's redeveloped. www.owonder.com/hockey/ventures/index.htm"In May 2005 Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) and O2 announced they have started work on converting London's controversial Dome into an exciting music, entertainment and sports destination - with an ice hockey rink included." Taken from the above link. "Additionally events such as Basketball, Ice hockey, and Tennis shall be hosted at professional level." this quote is from the following site www.industrialacoustics.com/uk/index.htm?news/o2_arena_noise_contract.htm. www.viewlondon.co.uk/o2-dome-london_index.html"An ice rink will also be built on site at the O2, meaning that figure skating or ice hockey could feature at the venue which promises plenty of live sporting action for sports fans." One last one from the bbc 212.58.226.19/1/hi/england/london/4903922.stm poster on april 12 this year. "Can host anything from pop to ice hockey" So there is alot of arrows pointing to a team there eventually.
