This weeks Mick Hollands Football Post Article:
IMPORTS IN RACE AGAINST RED TAPE
Work Permits
The article states that Sean McAslan has been caught up in the red tape bureaucracy, like players from other teams.
However McAslan is the only Panthers player affected, everyone has their documentation, and it is hoped that he can join the pre-season training camp the same time as Corery Neilson.
Gary Moran is stated as saying:
'To be honest I think one or two other teams might be struggling to get their imports in, but until that weekend, its anyones guess'
Kirham/Coaches Meeting
There was a meeting between the coaches and Simon Kirkham regarding the new zero tolerances rules.
Mick Holland writes:
'I understand most coaches were attending, with one notable exception...Belfast's Ed Courtenay. I look forward with additional interest to the opening game of the season - Belfast v Panthers'
BMIbaby signs sponsor deal
The press release seen on various websites
Berrington wins claim against the Racers
Following a two-hour hearing at an Employment Tribunal, Paul Berrington has been awarded a total of £10,656.
Jo Collins of the Ice Hockeys Players Association is quoted:
'The award easily exceeds the best offer that had been put to him during the lengthy negotiations to resolve a problem
The delay is directly attributable to club owner Roger Black's own intransigence at all times and p[articular unwillingness to put his own hand into his own pocket in the absence of the club having taken out appropriate insurances that would have covered the player in terms of medical/salary and other losses in such a situation
It has served only to emphasize yet again deficiencies that have always existed in the sport and which now seem only to be seriously coming under scrutiny'
