Announced today. They will probably do better under him than they did with pardew. All the people that i know that support west ham are pleased with the move and his first signing looks like it is going to be Darren Bent.

It's definately going to be interesting to see how Curbishly does with West Ham!
He'll probably keep them up but i cant really see him getting them much higher than mid table while he's there, if this happens will the ambitious owner + fans want to keep him for long?
I wouldnt be suprised if he does get some Charlton players in, a move that will probably condem them (Charlton) to relegation.

A lot of unhappy West Ham fans on talkSPORT today.
He'll keep them up. But is he better than Pardew? I expect Pards will end up at Charlton. Forest could speed that process up.

The appointment of Curbs is a long term investment for me, he can work magic on a shoe string budget and with the players and cash available it will be very interesting to see how it develops. I think it will take west ham to the top or further down, nothing in between. But having looked at how Charlton have been since he's gone it seems more of a positive for hammers fans.
IMO great appointment very clever move!

The big question with Curbishley is whether he can manage the bigger name players that West Ham have / will have in January.
He's an awesome Manager if you're in the wrong half of the table, and he's capable of masterminding an away victory at Arsenal or Manchester United. However, with a new owner in looking to win trophies and gains some pretty instant success after January.... Is Curbs the right choice?
If he is, why didn't he get the England job?
(All that and I like the man).

I havnt looked it up but im sure i heard somewhere that Charlton were actually doing better under dowie than Curbishly last season when you compare the corresponding fixtures! No doubt Curbishly is a good manager, his time at West Ham will most likely show how good he actually is.

A lot of unhappy West Ham fans on talkSPORT today. I work with one and he wasn't happy with the decision when the board sacked Pardew. He'll keep them up. But is he better than Pardew? I expect Pards will end up at Charlton. Forest could speed that process up. I think Pardew is a better manager than Curbs, although I like the latter who comes across as a decent guy. Think Pardew is better tactically than AC.

When has he beaten Man U? Cough Beat me to it! Curbishley is a great manager, its great to have him and Martin O neil back in the premiership! I have to say tho his first interview was far from inspiring! He was saying he didnt wanna be a championship manager and the owner was talking top3 and europe and 60,000 seat stadium lol, nothing like singing from the same hymn sheet!

That was his first ever win v Man U. To call him a great manager is nonesense. He kept a decent sized club in the EPL. That's all. I guess Paul Jewell is a great then as he is doing it with a much smaller club. And Big Sam must rank with Paisley, Clough, Shanks, Busby and Jock. He should keep them up as WHU should have way too much to go down. Is worth noting though that his teams normally plummet after xmas! ;D

He should keep them up as WHU should have way too much to go down. Well that's been said before! I consider West Ham serious contenders to take the third relegation spot, (spots 1 + 2 already occupied by watford and charlton imo) along with Boro' , Man City, Sheff United and possibly fulham. I agree with you about curbishly though. At Charlton he proved that he is a good manager, but not a great one.

Sunny, there is no chance on heaven or earth that Charlton are staying up. Probably not. And it's worth noting that many Charlton fans blame Curbs for leaving them with a rapidly declining eldery team. West Ham go to Charlton next month. Be interesting to see the reception he gets. The fact that he has slated what he inherited (and by implication Pardew's transfer policy) has caused a stink at The Valley. Charlton fans have praised pardew for showing some class and not responding by saying the same about the mess Curbs left behind. And Pardew hasn't got money to buy his way out of it.

Excellent appointment. They only way is up for the ammers. Statistically the worst manager in the EPL this season. Yes worse than Reed at Charlton. And all this after burning £18m on average players. Apparently some West Ham fans are calling for him to go and to bring in Brooking to try to rescue the club. Makes sense to me. Should've got Billy Davies from Derby. Get rid before he does any more damage. Beat me to it! Still think he's a great manager?? I think it is now 2 points in last 7 games and a defeat in the Eon Cup on top.

You leave Davies alone or else!!
i thought Curbs would have been more productive, he's spent a fair amount of money and ok players need time to gel but its not looking good for the hammers. Maybe relying on wigan to get them out of it.
