I'm getting a bad feeling about Woosie's captaincy. He's not been in touch with Langer as well. This is the biggest second sporting event in 2006 and the little fella is making me nervous. link

The thing that may work in our favour is that America tend to be a collection of good players as oppopsed to a 'Team'.
Not overly confident myself to be fair.

The thing that may work in our favour is that America tend to be a collection of good players as oppopsed to a 'Team'. Not overly confident myself to be fair. You're right, that has been our strength in previous tournaments, but I am not convinced that Woosnam is going to be able to generate that same team spirit. If we don't have that and it comes down to a battle of individuals, the USA could win comfortably. While I was pleased to see Westwood selected because he's one of my favourite golfers I feel Bjorn has a point and would probably have been the better choice for the team overall. Someone asked on Radio 5 last night - if a team member goes down injured or ill now, will Woosie give Bjorn the call?

Lehman is the best American Captain for some years; he realises the need for them to be a team, as evidenced by their trp to the K Club recently (including Tiger and Mickelson). He'll also be far better on the course than Hal Sutton was last time.
I'm disappointed with Bjorn making these comments now. As a member of the European Tour I think he should have kept things to himself until after the Ryder Cup, at least publicly. And it's never wise to speak publicly immediately after a disappointment like this. I do have my doubts about Woosnam but have faith in our team.
It will be close, but I take Europe to retain the Cup.

We seem to be the team who may not have the better captain or better teamspirit. We're also the heavy favourites. Total role-reversal.
I don't like that.

It was all a bit of a damp squib. If the USA get blown away again in 2008 interest in the Ryder Cup could wane in both countries.
Terribly one-sided.
