So, we appoint another `yes man` , no doubt 4 more years of failure looms

He's managed to keep Boro in around 13th place for the lastfew seasons whilst spending lots of cash. Well worth the England job! This is great news for Boro fans. Nice to see the FA spent months just to end up with Sven's #2. So, we appoint another `yes man` , no doubt 4 more years of failure looms You're assuming he won't be sacked in two years time.

I forgot to say Boro will also get plenty of compensation from this.. result everyones a winner! I wonder how McLaren feels being at least the 2nd choice for the job.. that's if others have not turned it down before him as well as Big Phil Scolari...

Well according to the press conference on sky sports, Scolari was NEVER offered the job acording to Barnwell In other words they never put a contract in front of him to sign. He was offered the job. The BBC have confirmed thatb they first spoke to Wenger but he didn't want to leave Arsenal. So Mac is 3rd choice at least. Not one member of the committee had Mac as a first choice. Curbs, MON, Sam and Phil were the picks so they have all settled for 2nd or 3rd best. Boro will get £1.5m compensation and someone like MON to take over. I can see Hiddink's Russia toopping the group now and us fighting Croatia for 2nd spot.

Yeah Wenger and Jose and Rafa have really struggled with the British game. Remind me of all the Englishmen who've won trophies in the last 20 years. It's a universal game.

I'm quite happy with the decision to be perfectly honest. A fan of Steve McLaren here though so I'm slightly bias.

McLaren is a typical FA yes man. It was so blatantly obvious he would get the job. He's another middle-of-the-road manager who will do pretty well but not too well in the tournaments and we'll go another 10 years without winning anything.
But then, after todays shocking squad selection, i kinda wish he was in charge now.
