I didnt know where to put this but for all those that hasn't read todays evening post (31/05) clarkey has been linked with moves to north america and italy.
Moving to north america could be a once in a life time opportunity for him and may take it up. I think it would be beneficial for his career if he goes to north america but as a panthers fan i want him to stay in britain.

This ties in nicely to the thread on the talk hockey part where i have been waiting for a brit to take the chance, and north america would be a great jump for Clarke.
I think he has more tools to his game than shields has, so i hope if he does go he can make a better go of it.

I think he can make it, whats interesting is he'll probably get paid more here unless he goes to the AHL as apparantly from what i hear wages here are higher than echl and chl etc

Great opportunity for him to test himself at a higher level, and no doubt improve as a player. Be a loss for us, but I'd be surprised if he didn't go for that (unless he has other ties keeping him in the UK).

Well as Paul Adey is in Nottingham I wonder if he'll be chatting with Clarkey trying to get him signed up.

TBH lines in america can actually mean very litt,e If you've been watching senators vs ducks, the ducks have been putting their 3rd grafting and hitting line out against the top line of senators and it's been keeping them at bay. So be it 3rd line or 1st line hockey, all lines get their chance in american hockey.
At the end of the day im sure if i was clarke ide want a move to states than europe.

theres no doubt if he leaves Nottingham for N.A its not for money, imo if he goes there its because hes wanting to test himself and i have every respect for him if thats the case.
him being linked to Italy and Adey being a coach there is for me much more than a coincidence, if he goes there il be surprised if its not to link up with Paul again.
there are many smaller and less physical players in N.A than Clarkey, strength wont be a problem for him it will be ability, over here hes a quality player in a very small bracket of players (British i mean) and this gets him noticed as hes undoubtly one of the best, whilst in N.A there are many many players with his ability and better. i cant remember which player it was but a couple of seasons ago one was quoted in the NEP as saying in his opinion it would be best if Clarke was to move on that he went to the continent rather than the lower paid minor N.A leagues

Could be worse; it could be Clarke I want him to stay obviously, but I'd understand if a move would be beneficial to his career and it would be great to see him make it big.

I love it!! 3 tough guys who are big hitters and just hit anything that moves and give it 110% every shift. Wish we had squad depth to do something similar.

Pahlsson, Niedermayer and Marchant are the most entertaining line ive seen for quite a while!! they ruff up all the top players like heatley and spezza which is always nice because they dont like it when supposed less able players are beating them in hits shots and possession. The have totally outplayed that line for 2 sucessivr game and i dont see them stopping anytime soon!!
if clarkie does decide to go i wud rather him go to the states because it wouldnt be much more of a lfiestyle change becausr they all speak english and would probably be much easier to get used to
but good luck to him wherever he goes and even more luck to him if hes here in the black and gold next season !

I think Clarke would be successful in the US. He is as good as the majority of imports we have brought in over the past 3 seasons, better than some, so I don't think he would struggle playing at CHL or ECHL level. He would relish playing the smaller ice pads and should not have any problem with fitness or stamina. I think that if the offer is there, it is worth the risk.
Having said that, I would prefer to see him with us again.

Whilst it would be awesome having Clarke for another season, if he gets the chance to go to a better league, wherever that may be, then he definitely should take it if he wants to.

Now I'm not, for one minute, comparing the Panthers to the Ducks but.... There was a small period in the middle of last season when our 'checking line' of Moran, Myers and Simoes used to go out and cause absolute hell for visiting teams. They'd skate out like maniacs for 45 seconds, hitting everything that moves and forechecking like nutters, and more often that not they would draw a penalty! I remember them causing hell for Coventry on one particular occassion! That was good to watch. And actually having fond memories of Simoes and Moran makes a change! ;D It would be nice to see Clarkey try his luck in NA, just to see how he measures up.

DC will do what ever is right for Him. I personally think he had a better season than Shields the season before last and Colin returned to N.A. (ECHL) If things click for him he could go along way.
If we assume it is ECHL, and he has an outstanding season, a certain GM for the Norfolk Admirals might tempt him there. Sky's the limit.

obviously i would rather clarke stay here but if he were to move, please move to north america. if he makes it the yanks might think (a rarity) that british people can play ice hockey and publicise the fact that there are some good brits and maybe some better canadien/american players would like to come over here and play. a bit optimistic i know but slighty possible

It would be about ambition, not money, if he moved to NA. I can't see it happening, not now. Jon Weaver (a far more complete player than Clarke) did it when he was 23 and he ended up in the ECHL, and came straight back. Shields, good enough to be drafted, has now returned from his second ECHL stint, at the age of 27. Clarke is already 25, 26 before the season starts. He just isn't a complete enough player to be near the AHL, IMHO, and so it would be a season in the ECHL or UHL as a "senior pro rookie" with loads of ex junior and college kids on their way up. Maybe he's levering some cash out of ME?

I think the deciding factor with Clarkey would be his son who lives here, and as the little lad lives with his mum i can't see clarkey being able to take him with him.
Lol didn't see hl's comments above this one, what he said
