How about we talk about the Panthers? I am sick to the back teeth of coming on here and reading petty squabbles about Sheffield this, Sheffield that, She pulled my hair, he called me a name, Blaisdell this, Blaisdell that.....
How about Mike Ellis? How about Rod Stevens?
We have a new Coach, a new(ish) team, and we're less than 3 weeks away from a new season and all people want to do is complain about Sheffield.
Focus on the NIC. We have two centers that are capable of scoring goals, Emersic's back to create havoc and we finally have a team that won't be pushed around.
Yes, interesting developments are taking place up the M1 but do we really need 5, 10, 15 threads on it??
Come on lets talk Panthers for once and our chances for the opening games, hopes and expectations.
I was over on the EIHL forum, a forum that is well moderated after a dark period, and a Coventry fan had an idea to start a thread about your opinion on:
Your best/worst signing (IN YOUR OPINION) hopes for the season team you'd most like to beat(why) team you don't like playing(why) best player (opposition) to watch... and the worst...
Can we get back on track and have more Panthers (it's a Panthers forum) and less trolling?
Come on Panthers... as I wrote in another thread: Balls to what's happening up the M1, there's plenty of exciting developments right here.

Well said! I go on Steeltalk to talk Steelers, I like to come on here to put another POV (and I would hope not an entireley biased one!) on Panthers matters. This has become, as someone pointed out on ours.....

Well said, Martin.
When all's said and done... Sheffield are only one of NINE opposition teams.... they just aren't that important!
If we have to talk about opposition teams... why not spread it around a bit more?

Fair enough up to a point, HL..... but it's gone far beyond that point.
A little bit of ribbing, OK..... but not constantly, multiple threads, on and on and on and on about the same stuff!
It's getting very old and stale....

Well said, Martin. When all's said and done... Sheffield are only one of NINE opposition teams.... they just aren't that important! If we have to talk about opposition teams... why not spread it around a bit more? Shaggy hits the nail on the head yet again As for you Heanor Lair, as has already been said, no one minds your light hearted ribbing, we all like a good joke at the expense of Sheffield. The point is that it's gone too far. Idle taunts, trolling, the forum heading to the dogs.... This is a forum for discussing hockey issues, Panthers hockey issues. No one minds EIHL discussion, it makes for interesting reading and broadens our knowledge, but why we need 5 or 6 threads of whining, crying, hair pulling, name calling is beyond me. 'Ribbing', as you call it HL, is all fine and fun, but when somebody from Sheffield replies with something you don't like, a personal jibe at the expense of your team or worse at you.... how do you react? Do you have a chuckle and leave it, do you come up with a whitty reply or do you start a fight and head over to steeltalk and clog up their forum with rubbish too?? This post isn't designed to single you out specifically, but there are a good number of cage posters just borderline trolling our forum then taking exception when Sheffield fans do the same. He/She started it... wah wah wah wah. Change the record. Any thoughts on the orignal post as to who you're looking forward to seeing the most and who you think our MVP could be?? Call me a non conformist, but I'd like to talk about Panthers on this..... wait this IS the Nottingham Panthers Forum... Martin

Indeed, bit of fun and ribbing as you put it could soon lead to trolling. Which after recent events on here is not tollorated and will be dealt with accordingly. And as far as I am concerned that applies to Panthers fans winding up opposition fans as much as it does them coming on here to wind up Panthers. Neier are needed and both will be dealt with in the same way!

Your best/worst signing
Evan Lindsay because I thought he looked technique-wise very sound for a poor Racers' team, and I like that fact that he has come back to the Elite league wanting to prove a point. Worst signing, not really a signing though, was the release of Richard Wojciak. I thought he looked a good prospect in his first season for the Black & Gold, but didn't get the ice time last year. I thought the guy would have flourished under Ellis' guidance.
Hopes for the season
That we have a team of players who will battle & fight in every game, and come off the ice with the belief they gave everything in the game in order to gain victory.
Team you'd most like to beat
Coventry, as I live here, and I'm sick of having my nose rubbed in it by the success they've (deservedly) achieved.
Team you don't like playing
Sheffield, because everytime Panthers beat them, you get a whinney Steelers fan on this site, claiming they've been victimised by Panthers' fans.
Nothing worse than bad losers, especially given that team's dominance over us in the last 12 years.
Best player (opposition) to watch... and the worst...
(Although he's now retired) I always liked watching Joel Poirier ice for Coventry. A hard working, industrious player who showed what a captain should do.
The worst? Ashley Tait, because he should still be wearing our colours.

I take your point to an extent, but lets be realistic, most of the regualr Shuff poster who come on here we know them as mates, meet up with them at Shuff, Nottm., etc. Even today many posters from Nottm and Shuff are playing in a hockey game and will be having a smile about both wahts on our forum and Steeltalk For sure I have put up a couple of threads, but NONE have been insulting to our friends up the road, and thats the difference. Of course you may have a couple of oiks that come on the forum and start to stir thyings up, but they are easily identified are they not? If something gets Personnal, fine, ban that poster, but if its all just banter, hey lets run with shall we? I don't think I've got a spiteful bone in me, and I for one one would be horrified to insult or offend anyone. Regards HL

But virtually all your threads can easily be seen to be trying to wind up and get a reaction from Steelers fans. Yes it's easy to spot the ones that are only posting to stir things up more but it's even easier than that for you to NOT give them any reason to come on here and start things.

I don't think I've got a spiteful bone in me, and I for one one would be horrified to insult or offend anyone. Regards HL HL, I'll run with you, I'll talk hockey with you, hell I may even drink a beer with you, but the point is that in recent weeks this forum has been subject to abuse and trolling. I know that you are only having a laugh, but one mans laugh is another mans insult. People really can take this stuff too far or worse misinterpret it. All I'm trying to do is start a postive thread about the Panthers to divert attention away from the rubbish of the last two weeks. Mods: Here is an idea- It seems there are many people who want to discuss Sheffield issues. Although Sheffield have a forum, if people want to voice their Steelers opinion, why not simply make a Sheffield Steelers thread, a place to discuss all Steelers issues. Of course it will need moderating but it may save loads of threads being opened up that could realistically be kept under one roof. Back on topic: I know I wrote this on the EIHL forum, but it was a good thread and one we could have some lively input on here. So here's my list What is the best that could happen to your team this season? Finishing top and having a good run in Europe. And the worst? Not winning trophies I can take, but if we take another 5-0 bashing from Sheffield I think the stadium will implode. Young Player to Watch? James Cooke Most Important Player? I think David Clarke has alot to prove this season. You could look at any of our imports and say good things but I think people will be so focussed on our tough players that there will be openings a plenty for Clarke, and former Giant, Rod Stevens. Signing you're not so keen on? None. I think Ellis has done the best he can. Is your coach the right man for the job? I think so. He's a young coach who has achieved wonders at Bracknell. It's high time he was given a chance and I'm glad we've opened that door. What advice would you give him? Be sure to win the Sheffield games and don't take any rubbish from 'certain' officials. Which team do you most want to beat this season? Well my heart says Sheffield because of the rivalry, but I'd say Belfast. they've got a roster that looks slightly above average on paper, but you know that the coaching and the tactics will come good and they'll be there or thereabouts again. Plus they're the Champions. Which opposing player is going to get the most stick? Dan Tessier, without a doubt then probably Payette and maybe Jeremy Cornish too. Where will you finish? 1st... but more likely 2nd. Think we'll win the Cup though, and there's no reason why we shouldn't be at the playoff weekend this time around. we massively underachieved last year but with a new coach and a team based around no one in particular and a number of players that can score (and check) we should be entertaining this year. Come on Panthers... as I wrote in another thread: Balls to what's happening up the M1, there's plenty of exciting developments right here. Martin Top post. You've got a lot to be excited about this coming season: A new coach. Plenty of new players to these shores. Some very offensive defencemen to go with a decent set of forwards. Some tough guys. 2 new/old teams in the league to watch (Manchester/Hull). You really should be concentrating more on your own squad, because you have a lot to look forward to. You may not win the league (who knows? ), but I do believe you'll see a much more exciting brand of hockey this year in Nottingham. Your best signing - I think Corey Neilson will be very exciting to watch. Your worst signing - Evan Lindsay, not because I think he'll necessarily be rubbish, but the netminder is probably the most important position in a team and I think Lindsay is a risk. Regards Doom

The problem here is Spin, weve had a summer of almost Zero Spin so people think we arnt confident or our players are not amongst the best in the league, you cant win!If Stevens had signed for sheffield hed be the best player in the league, if Shmyer had signed for belfast hed be the toughest player ever to play in the league
Your best/worst signing (IN YOUR OPINION) Best signing is probably Jan Krajicek, Im excited about Corey Neilson and Stevens but Jan is proven and was the player I named all season as a must sign! hopes for the season: To get back our reputation as the hardest working team in the league and dont get pushed around. To go home after every game thinking the players worked hard and earnt the £13 I paid to see them team you'd most like to beat(why)Sheffield, obvious reasons plus the signings of ex panthers team you don't like playing(why)Cardiff, always a difficult game best player (opposition) to watch... and the worst...Best, I still like watching Dutiame, worst I get wound up when Payette pushes us around, hopefully it wont happen this season.

Yeah lets leave the steelers alone, at least until the first time we watch them play at NIC, because until then we havent a clue what type of game they will be playing, and by then we will know much more about Our Team. I think we should be keeping a watch on ALLthe teams, as to win any silverware this season, we need to take points from All of them.

I agree with Martin - too much talk about Sheffield is tedious.
However, forums are what their users make them. I'm not inclined to dictate what is or isn't discussed on here - I've better things to do with my time. If a thread seems provocative, abusive or libelous then it'll be deleted.
I'd be delighted if there was more discussion about hockey matters in general - it's damn boring reading the same old things time after time - even when there is a degree of banter involved.
