BBC Radio Nottingham report that Shaun Sutter will be confirmed as Sheffield's new signing today.
Sensible move to reunite him with Tessier, and good luck to him!
The jury was split on Shaun last season. I thought he gave 100% every game, but wasn't the clinical finisher we had perhaps expected.
Adds even more spice to the first Panthers v Steelers clash though!

If you keep checking the Steelers web site, I think at about 10.45 and midday there are a couple of new interesting little story's from Shaun as well (Not Dog related - so might interest some of you)

Can't say Im bothered by this signing, didn't rate him much last season.

Well two of the Jaffa line have gone to pastures new. Ceman and Sutter couldnt buy goals between them last season, and whilst Sutter's work ethic was probably at a good level, he didnt really cut the mustard for me.
As said on other threads, he wasnt a line mate of Tessier at Fresno.
Didnt really want him back here this season. Lets hope we see more of the same from him in his new lovely coloured jersey.
All we have to do now is wait for the Sutter family stories to come bounding out of Sheffield.

I like how in his interview he mentioned the fans who "seemed so loyal"! Are they the same fans who stopped turning up last season when they were losing?

Another bull interview with a poor player. Loud and loyal fans, it was like a morgue in Sheffield last season. No winning team and those loyal fans disappear quicker than water down a plughole. A lousy signing in my opinion.

I think you'll find Mark that the loyal fans are there no matter what year in year out. It'd the take it or leave it fans that fluctuate depending on the teams performance during the season. For what its worth attendances were up last season despite having the worst season and team I can remember.
There have been times when I've been to the NIC to see the Panthers when the Steelers have been in Belfast etc and the NIC has been like a morgue even with the Panthers infront.

We got rid of Welch to sign Sutter. Blaisdall is welcome to recommend players to Shuff. In my opinion Welch was a far better player than Sutter.
Your welcome to Sutter Shuff?

If Sutter plays for Sheffield the way he played for us, I think they're going to be disappointed - he'll rack up OK numbers, but not what I think they're hoping for. If he plays as he was touted when we signed him, then they're likely to be a lot happier.
<shrugs> only one way to find out...

To be fair doesn't every coach ask ex coaches and some ex team mates about players? So they want to spin MWBs answer, so what? Let them get on with it. It's just good to see that the Spin crown has moved North this year.

I seem to remember that Sutter took quite a bashing on here as well as on the EIHL boards.
I didn't mind him. In my opinion he didn't set the world alight for us, yet he wasn't terrible either.
In my opinion Sheffield have got an average standard EIHL player. He was/is probably still in the UK so therefore he'd be easier to sign than an unknown quantity with good numbers from the CHL / ECHL.
A questionable signing perhaps, but Sheffield needed someone to create openings for Tessier and Shaun is capable of that. I would have thought though that Sutter would play on the 2nd line with a real flair winger on the first.
We'll see.

Me too Shin.
He was brought in to do a specific job, but when Tessier left that job disappeared leaving Sutter to fill a role he'd never had before.

'encouraged to sign him' shall we say Regards HL
