Visiting New York for the first time the week before Easter and intend to take in the Rangers vs Montreal game. Doesn't appear to be tickets available in the $44-47 bracket on the Rangers site (through Ticketmaster). However, unofficial sites are selling tickets in the rear blocks at almost twice the face value. Just wondered what's the best option to get tickets?

I'd be reluctant to pay over the odds for seats that are in orbit, but if it's a once only trip to NY and it's they only shot you've got then you haven't much choice.
If you are planning another trip book early to avoid disappointment. Not sure how many ST's are issued at MSG and how many general sale tickets there would be.

We bought tickets for a game through the unofficial website, did pay over the odds and a big postage charge , but it was well worth to see a game at MSG - we saw Rangers v Washington on Dec 30th - cracking game , with 2 huge fights.

I'm not sure if this would work with the Rangers but a few years ago when me and the other half were visiting his folks in Calgary we wanted to go and see the Flames. They weren't paticularly good back then but we weren't sure what the crowd would be like so my other half sent an email saying how we were both huge Flames fans and how far we were coming to watch them (not mentioning the fact that he was a Calgarian and we were visiting his parents). We got a reply from the Flames office saying they'd keep a couple of tickets for us and we were only charged at face value.
I did all the talking when we got the Saddledome though so as not to give away his accent. ;D

thanks - maybe I'll contact the Rangers box office before resorting to the unofficial sites.
