Bettman needs a slap.
Changing the shirts is purely a money-making scheme. It's not going to change the fact that NHL has it's lowest viewing figures for years.

Bettmans aldready done enough damage in the NHL with two lock outs and with him trying to amricanise ice hockey we've lost the jets, Nordiques, Whalers, and losing true hockey cities.

Bettman is killing the NHL with his changes. Crowds are falling too.

Bettman is killing the NHL with his changes. Crowds are falling too. They've only fallen marginally on last year, but are actually slightly higher than the season prior to the lockout. Average so far this season - 16,711 Last season - 16,954 Season prior to lockout - 16,532 It's the TV audiences that are really a concern.

Let the truth be known, the new capping system might have something to do with it.
When bettman took over as commisioner 13ish years a go. He moved teams like Hartford, Winnepeg, Quebec due to their low income which wasn t helping the league, even though they were hockey mad regions, they had to relocate as they were struggling financially. This for the good of the league in the old NHL old cause.
As there can t be more than 30 teams, there appears to be new franchises waiting in the wings should another drop out. i.e. Pittsburgh

The new jerseys wont be as tight fitting as the ones worn by the Canaidan Olympic team, and when I bought my Heatley jersey, it was no different to any of my CCM or Koho jerseys.

Another gripe about the new ones is that teh replicas will only be screen printed tackle twill crests, not embroidered.

The thing that's really hurting is the TV deal with Versus (the old CBS). It's on channel 76 on my cable package and easily missable if you aren't looking for it unlike ESPN and Fox which are far lower numbers and always in the "scroll zone" when channel flicking.
There's a good chance that the NHL isn't getting channel hoppers anymore.

Thats true. I was talking to an american the other day and I mentioned a game versus were showing and she flicked around awhile before she even realised she had that channel. And this was a sports fan.
All that said I can't see what all the fuss over these shirts is about.
