Nicked this from another forum. What an excellent situation for the new GM to inherit. This will be our side next year with all those i'd decide to keep: F Forsberg $5.75 million Gagne $5.25 million Knuble $2.8 million Sanderson $1.5 million Umberger $1.05 million Carter $942,400 Richards $942,400 Robitaille $600,000 Todd Fedoruk $450,000 Eager $750,000 Downie $ 20.0348 D Hatcher $3.5 million Gauthier $2 million Pitkanen $2 million Meyer $525,000 Jones $525,000 L Jonsson $800,000 Picard $ ? 9.625 G Niittymaki $1 million Potuly, Downie, Giroux. One or maybe even both players may make the Flyers. Entry level contracts there. Roughly 32M - 15.5m free with all players signed, we've got heaps of room! What UFA would you want? If i were Stevens, i'd get a back-up goalie (probably baumgartner), 1 top-line or 2 good d-men and one good forward. I'd also look to get Handzus back from Chicago.

Sorry Newham when I first read it I thought " the cap isn't 46mil.... So, Just for those who (like me) got a little confused......... Despite lower attendance in some markets, the NHL salary cap is expected to go up from $44 million per team to between $46 million and $47.5 million next season.
