I think they are 1 win away from matching the record in the NHL and it's against the Islanders so they pretty much have it. The current record is 10 straight wins, set by the Maple Leafs in 1993-94, although teams back then couldn't rely on shoot out wins.

Sabres couldn't beat the record, only tie it, but they still have one heck of a hockey team (lost 5-4 to Atlanta PS.) Leafs record remains intact ;D
