Seems Gagne wants more than $5m per season (which the team has offered him,) and if he were a Leaf, I'd be seriously wanting to either get him locked up too a new deal or ship him out. Link

I can't see him playing for the Flyers this year, seems a good deal to me anyway.

I think 5mill is all their cap room anyway so unless they put some added incentives to the deal I can see him moving.

How sad, I know its never surprising anymore that pro sports stars show no loyalty but if the flyers hands are tied theres nothing more they can do. Id be gutted if he left flyers but if I was GM I wudnt be held to ransom!

The problem is he represents a huge chunk of your offense, getting him signed and (IMO) getting your goalie situation sorted out is a big issue for the Flyers.

Well, looking at our line-up so far, i think we're going to need Gags. Given that Foppa will undoubtedly miss a lot of the season, we're desperate for a forward to lead the line. Gags will be that man.

Is there any chance that this could go to arbitration?
It is interesting that he is still listed as a Flyer on the flyers website. Wishful thinking perhaps?

There was a time i didn't think it was going to happen, thank god it it did, i was against it slightly to begin with but on reflection i think this could be even bigger than last year for him.

If Forsberg stays fit, as I personally think Foppa make Gagne a better player. It's a lot of cash for a player not even in his prime and only time will tell if it's a good deal. Having said that, I don't really think Clarke had much alternative but to sign the player. It does puzzle me as the deal signed is only $.25m more than was first offered. It works out at $1.25m more than Gagne was originally asking (for the whole 5 years) so I have to ask, was it worth all the waiting (on the part of the player and his agent?)

Philadelphia wouldn't be the same without it's mini soap operas concerning their sports teams.

Forsberg was delivering it last year IIRC.

We look to have a team resembling Buffalo last year, small and fast if not necessarily a big name side. If we can shift Hatcher, Rathje and Nedved we'll be laughing.

The Flyers akin to Buffalo? Give me a break ;D

God knows what happened there. We're akin to the Sabres in that we're a hockey side apparently but little else....
