Hi everyone First post so go easy on me!
There have been several comments on here about how McKenna has seemed to bring everyone together as A TEAM since his arrival and how he always seems to be happy on the ice. Well last nite while looking through The hockey News yearbook for last year I found the text below which I thought might be of interest to you all.
To put it into context, the particular article looks ahead to the Penguins chances during 2003/2004 (The book does the same for the other teams aswell), the particular paragraph is labelled "Chemistry 101" it reads:
"Chemistry101: There will be no shortage of leaders in the dressing room, although having Lemieux there can be tricky because his mere presence intimidates some of the younger players, Straka leads by example, while Bergevin and STEVE McKENNA keep teammates loose with their Zany antics. The Penguins have a long history of providing an enjoyable atmosphere for players"
Formulas need a catalyst to make them work sometime, the key element here is "Zany". Maybe it's something the Panthers have been lacking in recent years, let's hope that it is noted for future seasons.
Hope I haven't bored anyone or gone over old ground.

Hi Skid ... Welcome to our corner of cyber space.
Good article, well spotted ... gives us an insight as to how high morale must be in our camp this year. Big Steve and Curtis seem to be bouncing off each other well ... which must raise the mood of everyone around.
Let Zany be the new buzz word .... we like Zaniness - let's have some more ;D

Let Zany be the new buzz word .... we like Zaniness - let's have some more ;D Does that mean Mike Zanier failed to live up to expectations in 98/99 ;D

Thanks for the welcome Neves Metro.
Zany - I seem to remember the late Kenny Everett was labelled as Zany, if that helps (it will if you can remember Kenny)
Also in the book ironically, there is an article on Marc Bergevin (mentioned with Stevie Mc above) and his "zany" antics over his years in the show. An example being, after a close victory, Bergevin gets hold of one of those plastic Sumo suits and dances into the locker room to the sound of Kung Fu Fighting. It left his team mates "laughing so hard" nobody could help him up after he had fallen over. Some people call it stupid some call it Zany.

You'll know if McKenna really does have an influence over the team as they'll start spending whole games grinning like bananas for no apparent reason !
