Noticed we have a considerable amount of players on this forum with different levels of experiance so just everyone could share the tricks of the trade when sorting kit out.
wether it be a technique on stick taping or visor care post it here, anything you think may benefit others.

good idea, anyone know a good way of breaking a new catcher in? No idea myself, but I'd guess throwing a puck at them and bending them helps. Like a cricket bat... but with a puck instead!

If your visor is steaming up a lot, get a dab of Fairy Liquid with a dry cloth and smear the Fairy liquid thinly all over both sides of the Visor until it drys and looks clear. ;D
And, supposdily cutting the end off yoru blade makes your shots more accurate.

Lol I wudnt advise that one Durham wasp, Dale Jago used to break the toe of his blade and had a good shot but I wudnt!
In terms of maintenance its all down to the individual. One major thing to look out for is where you walk in your skates. If you step on something with a metal base (ice sheffield have metal bases on the team benches) you could do permanent damage to your skate and never be able to grind out the marks!
Big tip, always drink loads of water. Sounds obvious but have 2 identical weeks, one taking on no water and one sipping loads when you can and youll notice the difference!
A few things you can do with new gloves, tape the fingers all the way back so they stretch. With a catcher just do things like crushing it with your hands or maybe even sitting on it to soften it up but to bed it in properly just sit with it on watching TV and keep stretching it. Good for your hand muscles aswell as daft as it sounds lol

Im with tim....
Keep you helmet in a pillow case, but other than that... chuck it all in your bag... leave in a warm place and dont let it air.
The smell puts people off.... mine smelt like vinegar after a while and made MY eyes water.
I did eventually wash it.... got me mum to just chuck all my kit in the washer. It all goes in ok... just dont do your gloves... leather + soapy water does NOT mix

Not drying gear out properly is a great way to shorten the life span of your gear and make your skates limp and lifless.

yeah but it makes it feel horrible everytime you put it on if you dry it totally out, would rather be comfortable in my kit and replace it every couple of years than me annoyed by it

whats the best way of cleaning a visor, mine had a warning about using certain chemicals on it due to scratch resistance coating, mine is clean and i can see but it could do with a proper clean and dont know how to do it safley, its an oakley one if that makes any odds.

Mate if you can still see through it ok I wudnt bother, you can damage the coating (only lasts a few weeks) with washing up liquid or shower gel. The shower gel acts as a coating but if youve still got the original surface and can see thro it just use a dry soft cloth and rub it til it shines
