Anyone going to Edinburgh for the Double Header then.?
I know the Supporters Club are hoping to arrange a trip if enough are interested.
At least it is earlier this year, so the weather should be a lot warmer than the normal December dates of the last 2 years.. although we will still need to wrap up for the game... their Ice Rink is always freezing.
Has anyone heard anything yet about the Caps appointing a new Coach?

WHAT! looks like im driving then.... Its quicker to drive than travel to anotehr airport just to fly.
Are you sure though? COs they have winter and summer time tables, dunno when the winter one starts. I know the last trip of last season I couldnt make because they changed the times on the day i was coming back and there was no flights.

Yep... im driving... tis easier... only 5 hours apparently.... Edinburgh is just about the half way point on my drives up to the Highlands and Islands, so there's nothing to it Ted! Watch out for the speed cameras if you use the Coldstream road though - plenty of them on the Scottish side of the border.

SO it might mean coming straight home from the match on sunday! Easy enough, I've driven to and from games in Ayr on the same day on several occasions with no problems. If you've stayed up there the night before you'll be fine. Sunday games normally face off at 4 or 5 pm so you will be home by 1-2 am or so - used to be about standard a Sunday night road game when they started later!

Sunday games at Edinburgh face off at 6pm so they are normally finished by around 8.15pm unless there are any major scuffles on the ice, then it could be a bit later. I look forward to seeing you all in Edinburgh again this year for the double header, it was a great atmosphere last year, so I am hoping for the same again this season. See you all on 23rd Sept.

Mrs. BH phoned the Holiday Inn Express (who supposedly have a deal for hockey weekends, in conjunction with the Capitals). They're apparently fully booked for that weekend ! (This is the hotel that the players and a number of supporters stayed in last year).
She also phoned Travel Lodge and they could only do double rooms, and Travel Inn was approx. £130 (for Sat. & Sun. nights) for a Family Room.
So, don't know if there's something going on in Edinburgh that weekend (aside from the hockey of course !). Mrs. BH (who heralds from that fine city) is going to text her cousin to try and find out.

While I think of it... I'm going to drop a word into the ear of one of the guys who works for the Capitals..... get them to put extra supplies in. After all, the last double-header weekend we had there, we ate them out of stovies and drank the bar dry! ;D Looking forward to this one.... the people there are great, the nosh is great (I love stovies) and the rink is nowhere near as bad as some say (usually Fife & Dundee fans! ). I like Murrayfield... dunno why people think it's too cold!

Get up there while you still can. I've been hearing rumblings of new rink plans. They aren't of the usual pishy entertainment/arena complex sort that are mooted every six months either, this one sounds like it might be both semi-likely to happen and built with hockey in mind. I do fear for the future of stovies in a new rink though.
I won't be there for your double-header or any games this season unfortunately but I'm sure you'll all manage without me anyway.

Most Major hotels are saying they are fully booked for the Saturday 23rd. I put down for 2 nights and was able to get in most of them. Could be that they are hoping to sell more nights, if you wait you might be lucky to get a 1 night deal. But there are smaller hotels and B+Bs around so don't be put off people.
Try looking on Smoothhound, they have loads of places to stay worldwide, some can be booked on line.
