I know he was moving house, and I think it was towards Hucknall, but it seems that it's more than just property he has been buying according to the Nottingham Evening Post: Wigwam Playing FieldsWIGWAM FIELD A "GREEN LUNG" FOR COMMUNITY Be the first reader to comment on this story Playing field land set to be developed into hundreds of houses has been a "green lung" in the area for years, a public inquiry has heard. Residents living near Wigwam playing fields, in Hucknall want the land to be given Village Green Status to stop playas for 770 hew homes. And Jeanne Fisher, representing the Wigwam Warriors campaign group, told a public inquiry into the issues today that the fields were important to the community. She said: "Wigwam playing fields have, for many years, served as a green lung for the area, a haven for wildlife and an accessible amenity for the community. "The fields have also been at the heart of my community." Emily Ada Story, who sold the playing fields to the county council in 1938, stipulated that land was only to be used for sport and recreation. The council sold 13.5 acres for £5.8m to the developer Cofton, who also bought 116 acres at nearby Grange Farm for £37.3m. The five-day enquiry started today at Newstead Miners' Welfare and Community Centre, conducted by John Male QC. Notts County Council and the consortium hoping to develop the land, who both oppose the application for Village Green Status, are represented.

Ah, memories of school football! We used the Wigwam playing fields for junior school PE, football matches and sports day. Hopefully, they can save the site from housing development but I suspect that ultimately money will talk.

I am going to the inquiry to give evidence against the developers plan to build on the covenant land. I hope it will do some good, but I will not hold my breath.
When they have paid over £30 million for the land, I can't see them just letting a bunch of local residents get the better of them.
