Tasker and Johnson will either join Newcastle or retire. The reason they left the Blaze was to spend more time at home, so joining Sheffield or Nottingham will not help.
Simms says we are in advanced talks with Weaver on the Steelers hotline, so could be true.

Simms seems to spend a lot of time talking about us on his hotline. Prehaps we are more interesting to him than the Steelers. Far from me to suggest hes envious of what we are doing.

Weaver has signed a 2 year deal at Newcastle.
Must be one of the shortest rumours of all time.

this is disappointing, weaver is one of the best brits and he ain't gonna be in our league again, same with longstaff, also with the retirement of Tony Hand and the rumour suggesting that Ashley Tait will go to Sweden, that leaves our league woefully short on Brits that can hang with the imports.

This isn't a rumour but i think we should sign Alexander Simensen. the player who we borrowed from AIK when we played the friendly against them at the begining of the season that kid was good then.

Heard this morning that Marc Levers probably isn't going to be offered a new contract since Matt Myers has essentially taken his place.
Real shame if it happens.

Plus, Levers is still going to David Lloyd. Does that mean Panthers are paying his gym fees still?? Who knows...

I thought the number of Brits per team was suppose to be increasing from approximately 5 per team last season to approximately 7 per team next year. The "recommended" principles of the inter-league cup state a minimum bench of 16 plus 2 netminders that 18 less maximum of 11 imports that leaves minimum 7 Brits. So dropping Levers wouldn't make any sense unless we had some other British players lined up. Of course the "recommended" principles might just be something the Elite league is going to aspire to but not quite achieve.

I believe both players can play anywhere across the forward lines.
You are right about needing more Brits, but I'd have thought that Levers would be looking for more than just a bench role next season and with the 3 Brits already signed, it is maybe best for all parties if he went elsewhere.

The league will take a wage cut next year so the standard will undoubtably drop which means Marc would be good enough for regular icetime!

I think there's a few people being a bit too harsh on Marc Levers here.......
Before this last season, Marc was definitely at about the same level as Paul Moran. Now there's an argument that Paul has improved more....(he's certainly come on by leaps and bounds) - but is that really a fair assessment?
Remember the problems that Marc has faced recently:-
- Gets injured in the Panthers' first home game of the season - remember how everyone cheered when he launched that huge check on the big Bison D-man? And then Marc gets crocked a couple of minutes later, and misses several games.
- That wasn't his only injury of the season.... Marc's style is a bit different to Paul's remember... Marc plays much more 'in your face'. Different, but equally valuable IMHO.... it's just that it resulted in several injuries for him.
- remember the car crash? That can't have helped his confidence, and with it being the same day that Chris McSorley came to view the British players on offer..... ouch! unlucky with the timing or what?
- the return of Jinners.... which meant that we had 10 forwards - one 'spare'. And with Paul having stayed uninjured all season and having had regular shifts etc, who was the obvious (fair or not) choice to be the odd one out? - Marc.
Basically, he's had a run of bad luck, and then some. The reason that more people don't talk about his is because they haven't SEEN him as much! But when he got on the ice, he did good work, remember?
I for one hope he's back in the Black & Gold next season.

to be honest Levers wasnt quite up to it, he was getting laughed at by some of the opposition D-men for not being tough enough....
...as much as i like him and the rest of the brits, i feel the need for the more myers, samples, clarkes of this world in order to have more effect in the elite league! I just think levers would benefit from more ice time in the BNL
cheers andy

I always thought it was very unfortunate that he was the one left out when Jinman came back. You are right about one thing he could do with some more ice time, but I still feel that he deserves more ice time in the Elite League hopefully with the Panthers. With a bit better luck next season and less injuries Levers could easily make the grade.

Totally agree with Tom, while not being as feisty or agressive as Moran I think Levers is a more skilful and technically gifted player and deserves a second shout.
