The import roster is now full, but with Moran playing on the Blue Line this year we have room for a '10th forward'.
If Mike Ellis goes for this 10th forward (James Neil excepted), who might it be? I guess it come be someone from the EPL ranks but not sure who.
Any suggestions?

someone on a 2 way contract possibly? Perhaps TeddyC, but they wouldnt be available for all the games. I was thinking more of a 'full time' roster player.

I dunno.... I asked this in anotehr thread about the fact we seem to have 'dropped' Scott and Woj and picked up Meyers.
SOmeone said that Meyers will probably get as much ice time as the 2 of them put together.... so we might not be 'short' in that respect.
But yea... if we have a final space.... may as well fill it!

I would be very surprised if ME doesnt bring in a 10th fforward, especially after what he said about needing 5 D. Only need 1 injury (short term so cant bring in ME or CC) and we have to start mixing all the D and the lines up. A young lad with potential in the Cooke mould would bve great, Im sure ME has all the contacts from the EPL last year. Or maybe we will all be surprised and see Colin Shields??

I had heard from quite a few people that there was talk about bringing the lions players through more than in previous years. I play with some great players on that team and there is at least 2 or 3 that could step up and do the job.
Failing that, i expect another 2-way player. With the import levels dropped, the young brits are in more demandm, and in turn can ask for more money. Dont think we can get away with not paying the young brits for much longer!

Nicky Chinn Thankfully not.... signed for Slough Jets Thats a shame. Interesting what Luke was saying, it will be nice if the new order includes more development of the junior system and bringing young players through as a natural progression. Maybe we'll see that Colegate fellah?

guess mike Ellis might see himself as the 10th forward? Can't.... import limit.... As for Lions players - I can think of at least a couple who could acquit themselves decently.... whether they would be able to or want to, or whether the Panthers would want to is another matter.... haven't a clue, myself...

import level... is ME classed as an import, as isn't he a British citizen (I assume you'd need to be to play for GB) Or does the import restrictions apply to naturalised players?

The import restrictions cover anyone who was not trained in the UK system which is why Ellie would be an import but Ash Tait (born in Canada but trained here) is a Brit.

Thanks for that. I was begining to wonder if more players would become British citizens as the import levels went down, but that explains it! Very sensible!

It applies to players that need an ITC card. In the most basic and very general terms, so there will be some exceptions, that means that a 'non-import' is someone who was either born in the UK and/or who has played in the UK junior set-up. Anybody else (with the very few exceptions) would be an 'import'.

Just noticed doing my poll we only have sixteen players, is that enough or can we expect a few more brits?

Hopefully we're going to get some two-way players - probably, from what Mike Ellis was saying, from the NIHC... but we'll have to wait on that score.

I thought he would be considered a forward. Rob

Which is Meyers and one other... who would you choose? Obviously I could be wrong - but I can't honestly seeing it being anyone else.
