Could be four or five in the hunt come Feb. Can only be good for the league.

The team to beat will be....
.... whoever we are playing on the night.
It's far too early for anything more than wild guesses - most teams still have players to sign, and a puck hasn't been dropped yet in anger. One or two teams may look better than the others.... but we of all people should know how deceptive that can be. Lots of new players, some new coaches - new attitudes, styles and tactics as well.
The Panthers have got every chance of winning silverware - if they work at it enough. What more is there to say?

Well my vote went to Panthers because I'm a fan, but you can't tell what any team is like till we get into the season. Same as always we have to hope for good, entertaining hockey, teamwork and players wanting to win!! Mr Ellis (the coach, not the radio Nottingham bloke) looks to have supplied that......fingers crossed

As it stands, I think Coventry have the stand out team. In Koenig the best nettie, Martin one of the best d-men, and proven goalscorers.
You guys in 2nd- similar squads, but coventry have the advantage of a spectacular goalie, compared to an average one that you guys have. Plus, they don't have the added obstacle of Europe, which often comes back to bite teams.
3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th should be close, with Belfast, Steelers, Devs and us, probably in that order. Our 6 defensemen and goalie are up there with the best, but even with the rumoured 150+ game NHLer to sign(rumoured) the worrying thing is our top goal threat is a defenceman. Firepower will let us down. But if you said at the start of last season that I would predict a top 6 finish, challenging top 3, I would have laughed. A very successful season for us will be top 4, with a good cup run, but I doubt we can do both.
The 'basement' battle should be a good 'un as well. I expect Hull to take it to Bison and Caps.
Saying all that, come the end of September, I'm sure all of that will be completely wrong.

I wouldn't like to say until I've seen all the teams play, because as we may have found, a team that looks good on paper, isn't necessarily (sp?) good on the ice.

I haven't answered any.
It is way to early to tell anything. The first game hasn't even happened.
I of course want the Panthers to win but don't wanna tempt fate. I do have a feeling we shall win something though.

Bold predictions this early, with some squads only half complete.
At this stage Coventry look very good, Belfast will put a good team together. We look pretty useful with one signing to come. Cardiff are always a good bet for 4th or 5th and a decent cup run. Newcastle may suffer some second season blues, expectations being higher than before. Basingstoke will surprise a few people, I like the team Doug Sheppard is putting together. Manchester are another potential surprise package, look out for them in the cups. Hull may struggle, although in Rick Strachan they have a coach who can help guys with the learning curve the EIHL will provide. I worry about Edinburgh, no coach and few players signed up with the season so close.
I predict...
1. Belfast 2. Coventry
3,4 & 5 Some combination of ourselves, Sheffield and Cardiff
6,7 & 8 Some combo of Manchester, Basingstoke and Newcastle
9. Hull 10. Edinburgh (sorry guys!)
