If you use kelkoo, or price runner they'll find a cheaper deal. It might be worth leaving it a bit, as HDTV is coming out later this year from SKY, and many non-HDTV TVs will come down in price.

I'd take a plasma over a projector. The quality is far superior.

Depends how good the projector/screen is.
I've got a BenQ PE7700 projector and a 2.4m x 1.6m screen.
Thats the equivalent of a 110" viewable area tele, and the quality is spot on. Modern DLP projectors are much sharper and clearer than older types, and even on a smaller screen, they offer much better value for money than a plasma tv.

Has anyone managed to make a projector that doesn't make you think there's a hair drier behind you yet?

The two that I've had were quiet, but they were both good brands and quite well up the range.

projector was £1400, screen £500ish and you need a surround sound system too.
Still a lot cheaper than even a cheap plasma screen.

Yeh that's a pretty reasonable price. What size is your screen?

Take a look at the latest Panasonic viera pv500 Got me one, its a fantastic bit of kit and a real piece of furniture too, as opposed to a projector and screen. HD ready and when set up right it blows the socks off any proj set up, word of warning dont spend less than £1500 on a plasma you will regret it www.avforums.comFor loads of advice The xbox on hd is out of this world, 5.1 rocks the neighbours.
