Yeah, I was hoping they'd be signing Sebby as well...... ;D
Looks like this is just what their D needed. Never thought much of Sarich, and Darby is just a goon... Ricci was a good signing for them and together with this guy could make their defence half-way respectable.

And now we wont need to go to a Forest game to be able to sign "We Hate Darby" Anyways, back on the subject, he looks a good signing. If they had signed Sebby their D wouldve looked very dodgy, now it looks average at best.

Looks to have been signed with a pretty specific job in mind. Although a +/- rating of -11 last season isn't what you'd hope for from a stay at home blueliner. Doesn't take many penalities though which may be important given Darby's hot-head reputation.

I agree, I put alot of stock on +/-; IMO it is a very good indicator, the only downside is you cannot factor in line mates and such. He could have been on a line with a complete donkey, or a non scoring checking line. Overall I am happy with the D we have this year. I see transition has been mentioned, I think we will be OK. We still have 4 F to sign and these could be players to come back and take it on. I say 4 but of cource it is actualy 3 with the one being announced Tuesday, word on the street is that his name will raise an eybrow or 2!

To me, the Steelers defence looks like it may do a job keeping the opposition at bay, but transforming defence into attack and contributing points to the team it looks woeful In the last four seasons the highest number of points is Ricci (3+19) Manzano (3+20) Sarich (7+41) and Donkey Darby (1+13).
Only time will tell.

The only caviate to that I would mention Shorty is; having watched Sarich for the year. He was quite often a move starter at the back, by the time the goal was scored it would have been a few passes or amount of time since his involvement so he didn't get the assist. One of his least noticed attributes for me last year was his passing, he rarely used it unfortunately, prefering to bring it all the way out. If he could be talked into using it more often and staying put, he could be the real deal. Thats not to try and quell his natural offensive instinct though; we all kow what he is capable of in the last couple of seconds eh?
