www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1182123,00.html very sad I hope they've caught it early enough. It doesn't seem right that someone I remember so well when she was only 18 has such a terrible disease. I hope some good comes out of it, and it raises awareness of this horrible disease through her high profile.

It doesn't seem right who ever gets it. She is no more or less valuble than any other woman (or man) that gets breast cancer. Her profile might raise awareness though.

I know, it kind of came out wrong. I meant it's a disease we often associate with "older" people, but like I said, I can only hope that this raises awareness it can happen to anyone.

I'm not really a fan of hers, but I was still a bit taken aback when I heard this morning. I think it was a shock as you always think of her as being so young and healthy, not someone who could be suddenly get something that could kill her out of the blue. They said they'd caught it early though and she's gonna have immediate treatment, so hopefully she'll be OK.
Incidentally, if there's any women reading this who've been squeamish about getting regular smear tests for cervical cancer done and have subsequently not bothered, GET IT SORTED. There's precious few curable cancers around that its daft not to take precautions when they are available. It can happen to you.
