He is an excellent player tho not sure how he will cope with ZT, remember him as doing quite a bit of holding and grabbing.

Destraught, simply gutted. He was very consistent and largely underrated. With Tess and Ricci theyve signed a couple of my favourite players of recent times Pretty much says it all. A very effective, self-motivated player who reads the game extremely well and so rarely gets caught out of position. Often trailed a forward into the corners looking distinctly second best only to emerge with the puck. He's not given to wasting possession either and usually corrects his own mistakes. For much of the time, he played as well as or better than the NHL contingent we had, only being eclipsed when they stepped it up in the play-offs. That is perhaps the only reservation I had about Scott, he didn't seem at his best in really big pressure games - perhaps why he didn't make it to the Show. But week in week out he turned up and played good defensive hockey throughout the season. An exemplary professional and a top bloke off the ice. You have a good signing there OM - unfortunately. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Very good player, but did not fit into Ellis plan. ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) Ellis preferred to go with a different stay at home D-man, one he already knows ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Cote & Sutter were also NOT in Ellis plan. I wonder if matsos has asked for a scan & medical report on cote`s shoulder One thing for sure Ellis is his own man and is not swayed by any outside influence ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

I heard Ricci mentioned yesterday but I wasn't sure. I am quite please with this signing, but not having seen much of him before, only in games vs Steelers, I will hold judgement till I've seen him play, but certainly sounds like we've got a good 'un.

Scott Ricci is a player I took an instant dislike to. That doesn't mean he's a bad player, nor that Sheffield have signed a duff one.
I thought wow, this guy gets forward well has a nice shot and generally looks comfortable on the puck. Then we had a period of big games and boy did he look shaky. It was telling toward the end of the season that he got possession in his own zone then when a player challenged him he didnt stay cool and lost the puck through forced quick passes and panic. He did redeem himself at the very end but I would be wary of re-signing him and to be honest I'm glad he's gone to Sheffield.
This may not be how everyone views Ricci, but it's how he looked to me from my seat.

Really nice friendly bloke to - to top it off.
I have to say I am gutted by this one.
On my way into work this morning (in reception) I was greeted by a fellow Panther who told me the news, I only realised after the expletives that flowed from my mouth........

As I hinted above, let`s see if Ellis made the right choice first. At lest Ellis is making his own signings ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Unlike some other coach`s ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Back to the bad old days of Steelers signing a high number of our quality former players. Gutting to lose the perfect player I had in mind for our last D slot. I trust Ellie but let's not lie...this one, coupled with Tess hurts, and it hurts BIG TIME. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Dissapointed that Scott only pulled on a Panthers shirt for one season. ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png) Pleased to be able to get to see him play again unfortunately not for us. You`ve got a good signing there. Another reason to increase the rivalry ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

It's a shame. Reckon he'd have been a good way to fill our last D spot. I wouldn't say it'd be impossible to find someone to do the same job though. He's a great signing for Sheffield. Wish him well there - just not too well ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I trust Ellie but let's not lie...this one, coupled with Tess hurts, and it hurts BIG TIME. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) TBH not really. If we got all the Players that had done well for us over the past 5 years then we'd end up with a bench of 22 imports and a wage cap of over 1/2 million. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I don't really worry where former players go. We have room for 10 imports and we only have so much money to spend. Scott must be on a fair chunk and isn't he assistant coach as well? We went with Jan and Cory, so I doubt there's anywhere near enough to pay Scott what the Steelers are paying him and I'm just fine with that. Cheers
