I agree with those of you who think this could be big. Look at how many people the rink rush reached last year. With the correct organisation and right people doing the right thing, this game could be big and draw a big (ish) crowd. Just a few ideas for you, contact powerplay and get some advertisement, contact all elite clubs and get a piece on the websites, get in touch with Panthers and Steelers and work on the rivalry angle. go straight to the big wigs at the arena and see if we could get the arena free of charge or at a huge discount (would only be good publicity for the NIC, and they wont be losing out if there isnt something on anyway). If we played in Panthers and Steelers style shirts, they could be auctioned off afterwards if the players didnt want to keep them. Get the press involved. East Midlands Today, local papers, cancer charities themselves. The public love charity and a good cause! Look at Shane Moore's (Swindon) charity event, i heard that was a great success.
A lot of people are affected by cancer. I know this is just going to be a bit of a fun game, but we could really raise a lot of money and a lot of awareness here. The key is to keep it fun, but have a serious message as well. Im sure if you guys at the rink rush took this out of the Cage and Steeltalk forums, you could make it big, and raise a lot of money in the process. Think a few of you should get yourselves down to the Varsity match, maybe we could base the night on what they are doing. That is always a big event.

OK......Was just giving you an oppertunity lads. Thought I read earlier that people were keen as if serious. But if you think it's ok to jump in at the deep end..........I beg to differ that people would want to just turn up not knowing anyone but thats my thoughts. And my offer was something of a contribution between now and August.
But I thought you guys were treating this as an adventure and would like some 'Social' time together. If its just for those that can skate I'll close the book on following the Gym theme up.
Of course an Ice version is different to that played in a leisure centre. But, as for being a 'worlds apart' to Gym hockey, no. Mainly in that Ice is involved in one of 'em. The games played the same and when invited ice-hockey teams came along to a tournament it was recognised as a good fitness training session. Carlton Scorpions beat the then Panthers second string 'Trojans ' in a good final game.
Have a good time.

well im definatly up for doing something with the team before hand, i dunno about gym hockey tho'....It would be nice just to have a knock about for an hour or something, would be a great laugh and we would get to know who's good at what and get to know eachother a little bit. in a friendly fun environment. I dunno about you guys but i dont want Sheffield winning that trophy, panthers need one this year...even if the fans have to win it for them, hahaha! but yeah at the end of the day its all fun and for a GREAT cause. lets have some fun guys/gals!

Where's the post from Mazdave66 gone ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) Anyway, if we can get the ice time we're hoping to have a couple of training sessions before the game. That way everyone can get to know each other and we can work out who plays best with who. Remember it's a non contact game dodyfan ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Hi everyone,
Just done a quick count & I reckon we've got about 18 players so far there's still plenty of time to register your interest with us though if you fancy playing.
To pick up on a few questions etc that people have raised:
AndyD - Sorry but the Nottingham team already has a coach. The role of assistant coach is still available & you'll get the chance to boss waterboy, TeddyC around. You should be warned though that the dress code behind the Nottingham (I keep wanting to write Panthers ;D ) bench will be suit & tie.
Programme - we are hoping to produce a programme for the event with the usual team information, game sheet etc so if anyone's got any ideas for articles let us know.
Thanks again for all the comments. Keep 'em coming - this event isn't about us doing the organizing it's about everyone who plays or turns up to watch & we want to make the whole event as big & enjoyable as possible for everyone involved.

Such a shame we cant get it on the arena pad, we'll be packing people into the little rink, making people stand up when the arena will be prob be doing sod all
One request, can we get someone to do the music and announcing, intro etc?! Im sure theres enough people on here and steeltalk who like the sound of their own voice!
Also can you post a roster list of players for both teams once things have been finalised a bit more

I can't play cuz I'm only 17, but will greatly offer myself to the Cage forum team as a member of the bench staff, preferably the assistant coach, I'll be better than AndyD ;D ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) , plus I have a suit and tie!! Or even the ref or a lino. Let me know what I can do and I'll do it!! Andy

Oh how much am I looking forward to bossing the waterboy around...and how about Little Andy stick boy?! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
