Most entertaining. At least birthday girl got to spend 12 minutes with him! 14 minutes actually.
he was a naughty boy, and very smelly, lol ;D ;D
should be used to the smell as his kit is at our house all week though

2+10 is only 10 sat though innit? Added to the first 2 makes 12 or am I attributing insufficient penalty minutes?

when you get a 2+10, you sit 12 minutes. your personal 10 doesnt start until after the 2 finishes. as when its 2+2+10, you sit 14, and so on. The only time you sit less is if a powerplay goal is scored against you. then your 10 starts when the goal is scored.

Cheers Luke, I wasn't aware of that. Can't say as I've ever watched the clock that closely to work it out for myself.
I was sat opposite you playing duelling banjoes with Fats at the Smith's BBQ, so you know who I am now. I guessed from the West Midlands accent that I was sat next to your folks last night.

Haha one of the more distinguishing features, the old "Blummoy" accent!

Its all cool. must admit, im picking up the nottingham accent the more time im spending up here now! My folks get vocal at times, like all hockey fans i know! but if you think thats bad, you want to hear Britfan when she gets going! So far, she drew her claws at Peterborough, Billingham, Whitley and Newcastle fans! she fierce!

Sounds like an interesting night for the Lions.... from the messages I got, Oscar Wightman got 2 PP goals, Stef Dodwell got a PP goal and not one but TWO short-handed goals! - and Craig Poynter got an even strength marker. Interesting!

Stephen made some great saves. he just seemed to keep appearing from nowhere for some of them.

Well done on the win - never easy to win in Wales, but I gather the average age of the Flintshire squad has decreased by about 15 years now - has Mark Stokes retired? If he has, and with Neil Abel moving up to EPL, who will challenge Bobby Haig for the position of elder stateman?

Flintshire probably have the oldest team in league considering they only have 1 under 19 playing for them with the rest of the squad being seniors!

Oh right cancel that then.
All the real oldies are down south now then - hands up who remembers Peter Quiney, Dan Prachar or Andy Martin?

I played with Dan Prachar, was a good player when he wanted to be! and always looked out for the younger guys.
Flintshire only have one named under 19, but there were a hell of a lot of face cages been worn on Sunday. This doesnt mean they were all under 19s, as some of our older lads like Stef wear cages after seeing what happened to Mark Hallam, but the ones who were wearing full cages did look quite young.

Just heard from my source that in this week's Powerplay is a mention of the Nottingham Universities Mavericks picking up a convincing win against Edinburgh, in which Lion Alex Karsay got 5+2. Nice one mate .

Ashamed to say after 25 years as a Panthers fan, this was my first Lions game. It was ace ! Last minute tied game, last second penalty shot, Lions goalie saves it, great stuff. Lots of good, honest checks, some decent speed, I really enjoyed it, and also the Cougars game before it. It was a good laugh and I'll be following the fixtures and looking forward to the next game. Cheers

Nottingham Lions played their final game of 2005 on Sunday against the Kingston Jets, in a game that they were expected to win, having previously beaten the Jets in Hull 6-0. Adam Robinson was a welcome return to the Lions’ line-up, having been out since the game against Kingston with a shoulder injury. Also Scott Glover made his home League debut. The first period was a bit scrappy, neither team could really seem to settle into a rhythm, and the fact that there were only 13 combined shots on goal seemed to show that this game would not be as easy as was thought. Losing Captain Stefan Dodwell to a 10-minute misconduct towards the end of the first period didn’t help the Lions’ cause and the first finished 0-0. Jets opened the scoring with 8 minutes in the second period gone, a good strike to Lee Espers, and it took Lions over 9 minutes to equalise, and the goal came from Joe Wightman on the power play, the puck being forced over the line 20 seconds before Jets’ Jamie Cobley returned to the ice. Neither team could find an advantage and the second period finished 1-1. The final period started with the Lions under pressure – they have to get a result here and can’t really afford to drop points to ensure a playoff place. However things were not going to plan and the Jets again took the lead at 44.03, Chris Anone with the go-ahead goal. The game wasn’t without its drama, with a penalty shot awarded to the home side at 55.47 as McGrew tripped Alex Karsay when he was on a breakaway, but the Lions’ defenceman was forced wide and the chance was missed. The Lions did get the equaliser, Stefan Dodwell scoring with just 53 seconds left. However that wasn’t the end of it – with just fractions of a second left, Joe Wightman threw his stick to stop Espers’ on the breakaway, and referee Chidley awarded another penalty shot, this one timed at 60.00, and Lions goalie Andrew Jaszczyk did well to stop what would have been the game-winning goal.
Lions have a break now, and are back on the ice on the 15th January 2006, when they face Whitley Bay Warriors – a game that is sure to be an exciting one.

and by exciting you mean "hopefully it will be physical but not quite as bad as last time"? Good Lord the Lions don't do anything the easy way do they! Still a point is a point and they are second in the league, only one point behind the Bombers.
