Bloody hell. Really don’t know what to make of this as I’ve fundamentally disliked him for many years now

Not really sure what to say. Be careful what you wish for I guess.
Bags of EIHL experience so knows what is needed. Does have passion.

That's an odd one. Feels massively uninspiring but he's had Blaze finishing above Panthers a few times recently. Knows the league but I can't recall a time where I've been wowed by how a Coventry team plays. I guess it's a wait and see, especially with whatever roster he assembles.

Will give him a fair crack of the whip, but can't say I'm particularly excited by the announcement. Time will tell I suppose.

Guess Corey back didn't seem such a bad idea after all

Personally I think it’s ridiculous. He’d never get a look in at Sheffield, Belfast or Cardiff. I really hope he proves me wrong but I’m massively underwhelmed

Pacha has said this is a no brainier because of his EIHL experience but what I don’t think he’s considered is that he isn’t overly popular among the Panthers fanbase. I think he’s going to be under pressure to hit the ground running or people are going to turn on him quickly. Unlike Paredes, Wallace, Graham or Chernomaz this isn’t a neutral appointment.

It would be brave of him to take Moore as his assistant given how popular he is.

Pacha seems content with us being a mid table club it seems, lacks ambition for me. I hope I'm wrong and will of course have to give him a chance but this is like night and day compared to Parades on a personal level.

Does his current popularity amongst the panthers fanbase matter? If he puts an exciting, winning team on the ice for the upcoming season then thats all that matters.
I'm surprised by this, but I don't hate it - knows the league inside out, has bags of passion (which people have been asking for).
Nonetheless, the cynic in me does think that this is another coach who is known for doing well with a limited budget...

Looking for those positives I came up with the above. I think given a GG or Parades type i'd take Danny over them(no idea on EIHL). I also believe there were plenty of better options out there. I hope those positives translate to a team suited to the EIHL. We'll ultimately be as comoetitive as the budget allows. Let's see where our Brit pack ends up as a first sign.

I personally think Pacha has lost the plot, so he’s turned down Corey who didn’t even get an interview and possibly got rid of the coach that held this team together last year. Totally underwhelmed after Pacha telling the fans at the awards they would be rewarded for their support last season. He’s obviously happy to let Pacha recruit the team because that’s where Corey came adrift. gobsmacked.

Seem to recall Blaisdell did well at Panthers on a smaller budget… Welcome to Nottingham Mr Stewart.

Well, who had that one in the sweep? Can't knock the experience. Blaze were a solid 5th at the halfway point, within a game of Belfast, but had the worst second half of any team in the league. Partly for reasons we can all relate to. Good luck Danny, welcome to Nottingham.

Also regarding fan opinion there was a lot of criticism last offseason that we signed a coach from the French league and then everyone was disappointed that he wasn’t returning

I don't mind getting a coach from within the league, but probably wouldn't have gone for this one 😉

I have no real opinion on Danny Stewart other than I recall not really liking him. Can't recall why. The Panthers management may quickly destroy the good faith built up this last season....or not. Too early to make any judgements, new coach and one player returning. As always time will tell.

At the minute I feel a little bit like Bishop Brennan when Father Ted kicks him up the bum. I really can't decide which side of the fence to fall on

Are Blaze fans annoyed he's left to join us? Or are they waving him off with a song in their hearts and a smile on the faces?

It’s a results business at the end of the day, and if we do well it will be viewed as a good appointment.
Same in reverse though, and he’s left himself open to stick if it doesn’t come off.
Proof will be in the quality of the roster though.

Whilst it is a slightly underwhelming appointment, the main positive, like others have said, is that Stewart knows the league extremely well.
Hopefully the traits that we always came to dislike him for can help us to build a team that is formidable and ultimately successful. It’s all about recruitment at the end of the day.
Welcome to the club Danny, the fanbase will get behind you

When JP announced he wasn’t coming back, one of my first thoughts concerned the lack of stability at the club which for me has been a key factor in the club’s fortunes for too long. Little to no continuity on or off the ice for years has really hampered us and the clubs that are successful in this league seem to have that stability.
So bringing in a coach who has been in the country for the best part of 20 years makes sense as he is clearly committed to the league and the country. To that end it would be nice to see Strachan and Moore return but Stewart should be able to choose his own support staff.
Given the way he played the game, I expect a hard working team if nothing else, something which we were blessed with this season just gone and something epitomised by the only confirmed player signing so far and a fair bet to be our new captain.
Fingers crossed we recruit a competitive team and let’s see what he can do.

We’ll have to wait and see who we sign but last season people liked the fast attacking hockey but wanted more size and grit added but isn’t that generally the type of team Danny Stewart signs
