More of a message to anyone associated with the club or supporters in the first era. It was Charles and Rose Chinn from Lucknow, Ontario who had 14 children. Three brothers Bill, Ab and George carved an excellent hockey career. All three invited to a 1944 Toronto Maple Leafs training camp. But the younger and smaller of the players didn’t get the call. George in particular had a good stint in hockey and apart from a scholarship in Michigan also attended Nottingham University for post graduate studies in his season 1954-55 here in the City of Nottingham. …. That one season with Nottingham Panthers is recorded in my own statistical books. The latest, ‘The Complete Works’ holding his total stats of the season as 60 games for 35 goals and 40 assists and 24 pims. Doubt I’m writing any more books which contain some facts for the local fan. But in future, you never know. Those interested, having the book ‘Factual Scrapbook can see his family picture on page 23 with near as many family members in it.
With a sad note here to the fact that George has passed away this year on 28th November at the age of 94. I believe the same age as my friend Bill Ringer who played for us too. By publishing in 2007 he had said that year was then 20th spent in retirement after 32 years in the oil business as a petroleum geologist and engineer. Of his one season here he said ‘ it was a wonderful experience for a Chinese Canadian hockey player…..Regards to any fans who remember me.’ I
