A cynic would suggest the arena want some cashflow pronto. It does make me raise my eyebrows that in the same week the owner (and major creditor) of the arena effectively declared itself bankrupt, the arena pulls forward a massive payday without any real warning.
When did last year's go on sale just out of interest?

When did last year's go on sale just out of interest? Just checked. Last year went on sale 1st November, so actually earlier, but they announced it on the 3rd October, so much longer lead time. Still think this very short notice period in December when people will be thinking twice about big expenses with tighter wallets than usual is not really the most sensible thinking.

December isn't an ideal time full stop, but given plenty of notice anybody can prepare for it. It's purely the notice period which is the issue. It just adds to a long list of EIHL calamities. I knew it was pre christmas last year for the first time. Didn't realise it was November though.

It may well be that they were again intending to annunce it at very end of October or early November but with the untimely passing of Adam Johnson they decided to hold off the announcement for a bit until the dust settled somewhat, and what Panthers longterm indentations for the remainder of the season were. As you say this time of year is not the wisest time to put tickets on sale at best of times, let alone when economic conditions are far from great for some. Personally I'd gave announced it around now and put them on sale early January as they used to.

Definite possibility and understandable that they'd not want to announce too close to Adam's passing, but 3 days notice after the final pay day before Christmas is a bit naff. I seem to remember it was always Jan/Feb time prior to COVID, but that might be memory playing tricks on me.

They definitely need the money to ease cashflow I'm convinced of it .

There will be plenty of tickets its not the same as it used to be since the league increased the prices that one year and it failed miserably. People found better things to spend their money on. We hadn't missed one playoffs since the arena opened but the last two we have given it a miss and had a playoff party at home with other season ticket holders. Gone are the days of 5am queuing for tickets and still being about 50th in the queue.

Not like Becky Hill - virtually sold out pretty much a year in advance (but that's not the Arena who decide that, I don't think, it's the artist).

Don't care, won't be going. But for others, yes it's silly. Even with the horrible news that we all endured with Adam, they only have to say.
'Forgive us at this time but for the season to come it would not be right to say this far too late. Information as regards the play offs and costs can be found at xxxxx. We will return to this subject later.'
Incidentally, is there a prize for spotting spelling mistakes?

Maybe the elite league would be wise to introduce non-refundable deposits for the POFW tickets. Fans can then guarantee their tickets without paying a high fee really early, it would help to ensure a sellout and the league would probably make more overall if a lot of people decide against buying tickets

Purchased with a very smooth process.

Very smooth and quick for me too. Though I could in theory have also been buying for non season ticket holders as wasn't asked for ST references of any form prior to going to the online checkout

Only 2 of those are linked to my account. Managed to buy a family ticket without the need to enter any ST details. I could understand if it could link to the 2 in my account without the need for imput, but not the other 2.

Out of curiosity & given the EIHL has said POFW ticket sales are up on this time last year I thought I'd see how many tickets are left unsold in the main bowl at the present time.
So as of last night according to the arena website:
Sheffield have 53 left (All bar 1 are in block 2, which appears to have been given to them in addition to their initial allocation.
Coventry (block 6) have 67 unsold
Belfast (Block 7) have 30 seats unsold
Guildford (Block 8) appear to have sold out
Manchester (Block 9) have 102 seats left.
Glasgow (Block's 10 & 11) appear to have 95 seats left in block 11. Block 10 appears to be sold out/unavailable
Dundee (Block 12) have 40 seats unsold
Cardiff (Block's 13 & 14) have 36 seats unsold. All in block 13. Block 14 seems to be sold out/unavailable.
Panthers (Block's 15 - 17) have 138 seats left unsold. 24 in block 15, 62 in block 16 and 52 in block 17.
Fife (Block's 18 & 19) apparently have 25 seats left 7 in block 18 & 18 in block 19
If my maths are correct (apologies if not) that currently leaves 588 (or there abouts) seats unsold in the main bowl.
I assume block 1 which is usually for 'the general public' is not on sale yet so this would also be needed to be added to the figure.
I'm surprised Panthers have sold so many, though we have of course sold out four Block's before, but given circumstance i dont think its too bad...
I'm surprised Coventry haven't sold a few more given their close proximity. Looking at Machesters block they are clearly struggling to sell their allocation which a shame.
Will be interesting to see the expected attendance nearer the time... though unless extended again the early bird prices end today.
