Whilst not pretty, overpassing, waiting too long to take a shot...etc, we grounded out a win. Must admit that, when it was going to be a classic typical Panthers game where at 2-2 and Fife on the PowerPlay, Fife would get the winner but we held firm and got the late winner ourselves. Carl Neil's Goal was class. Anyway the Officials got away with one here. For those that weren't there. A Fife player tripped up a Panther but there was no call, Fife were then on a breakaway and the Fife player was tripped up. If Fife had scored on that or had a Penalty Shot or PowerPlay, then who knows what would have happened. Neil’s goal was top drawer.

Game as described already. 4 different goal scorers and non from Lemay or Niemenen.9 different point scorers out of 10 total points. Johnson the only player with 2. If you watch the smaller, basic stuff he does you can really see his quality.
Neill is my stand out player so far. Looks to really enjoy playing, logs big minutes, doesn't back down from anybody and likes a cheeky smirk at the opposition.
Again, regardless of who we've played it's a great start. Please Blacky, put your hands in your pockets and back the team now whilst it can ride the momentum. Playing short for to long will hit results agaisnt any team. Without adding quality, results will soon turn once we hit the big teams. I still believe a few smart changes could really make this team compete.

I’m be only seen a handful of games, but Neil looks a very astute signing. His goal was top notch.

Michaud's goal at the end - was that ENG? Sheet says not, report says it was. Yes, it was an empty netter And what an empty netter it was...Michaud had 2 Fife players hanging off him in our zone and still managed to get a shot away. Henbrant looked class tonight, the puck is glued to his stick,I was just wishing he would shoot more...and he did and it was the GWG! Shane Owen had a great game (again) The place was dead though...why they couldn't have done kid for a quid on a Wedneaday night in half term I'll never know.

Not a great game but got the win. First was poor as others say but we got better. First couple of powerplays were poor but first goal was a well worked PP goal.
Neil's goal was class from where I sit in block 11 you could see it develop nicely and he shot it into the perfect place. Myself and Steve and Ryan behind me all knew it would go in before he hit it. Nice to finally have a two way Dman who can shoot the puck. Seems a long time since we had one.
It seems that whilst not playing great hockey we do have players who can score goals when we need them. A couple of additions would still be good though.

The cynic in me would guess it’s kids for a quid on Sunday because it’s a CC game that people don’t want to buy tickets for… oh and coincidentally there’s also a team signing session after this game…

We were poor in the 1st compared to the rest of the game but we still managed to carve out some chances in that period, I was worried that it was going to be another Owen masterclass for Fife in Nottingham though. Thankfully our quality and persistence prevailed.
Fife are a good team though and they will casue some upsets this season I feel. Rok did come up big for us again in the 3rd, he’s a top goalie in my eyes and I’m pleased we’ve got him.
We’ve definitely got the makings of a competitive team here, I’m praying we get some support in and that the people in charge back the team now!

I watched on the webcast as I’m on holiday at the moment, agree with most of the above.
Neills goal is made even sweeter from the behind the goal view which shows the precise moment Logan Neilson (the guy who hits the post more than the net somehow?!) blocks Owen’s view just as Neill releases it. Really glad he’s our captain and I hope he can lead the way this season.
I like to think I’m fairly level headed as a fan and I don’t necessarily call out Panthers very often, but this team has ‘something’. I don’t think it’s a title winning side, but it’s certainly a team that could bring us at least an entertaining season. But to do that, we need to add some support to the injuries. Run a spare and rotate the players to give them a rest. Give us our best opportunity please Panthers.

A wins a win, wasn't exactly pretty and Owen can be difficult beat, but we got the result. First wasnt a great period, apart we were winning face offs to start. Second similar but getting better, and third upped it and got the result. PP is still not great at times, how can you have the advantage and spend nearly two minutes fetching the puck from your own end. The call that annoyed fife on the trip was a levelling up non call from not blowing for the trip a few seconds earlier. Fife did lose the plot at the end and it was entirely the fault of the coach, you are 1 goal down and then give the ref a mouthful to put you on the PK, stupid, and then for pouteau to have two attempts to flick off the helmet of the player screening the keeper whilst the ref is behind watching, stupider (??). I guess the fife coach thought he'd nothing to lose so went all out rant, which got him nowhere but thrown out the game, will result in a fine and a possible ban for throwing things on to the ice.
Still 6 in a row in the league; we may not be the biggest or toughest team but we can get a win.

Just been looking at some of the stats (I’m going off FlashScores more than the EIHL so apologies for any errors) and I’m also aware that the total amount of games played aren’t even yet:
- Joint top of the league losing just once in 7 (which for an almost entirely new squad and staff, that’s an impressive start) - Most goals scored - Individually, we occupy 2nd-joint 5th of player points scoring in Lemay, Roy, Michaud, Johnson and Nieminen all sat behind Pristo of Coventry.
If we had turned up in periods 1 &2 against Manchester in game 1, we’d have had a perfect start to the campaign. Yes we haven’t played Sheffield and Belfast in the league yet, but we can only go off what we’ve done so far.
By no means do I think this will stay like this, but I genuinely think with a bit of tinkering with the defence (and by that I mean additions, I don’t think any player has done anything that deserves releasing at this stage), we have a better team this year than we’ve seen for a while. The short term pipe dream is a title challenge, but I think Belfast and Sheffield will be too strong, mainly due to prior chemistry and familiarity. But in the long term, hopefully we can have a competitive and entertaining season and hopefully keep a core of players to build around for the future.

Pity we don’t have any non panthers media coverage.
When talking to Parades about being 2 men down, you’d expect an interviewer to ask if anything is being done to bring someone in.
No idea how long Ryczek is out for either. Nothing said on that.
Should we read anything into McKenzie not being on the bench? Perhaps not rated by this coach? Might as well cancel that if he’s not going to feature at all.
Not looking for the coach to be grilled, just his thoughts on these sort of questions that the fans are interested in.

Not worldbeaters, but competitive. And at times, exciting to watch. And that's a world in front of last season. For all their efforts to play nifty, one-touch, no look passes in their own zone, you wonder why they don't do that kind of thing at the other end of the ice...

The issue with ZM I don’t believe lies with the fact the coach doesn’t rate him, I think it is more we’re seemingly on the wrong end of the 2 way deal and don’t have first dibs

I echo the sentiments that the team whilst maybe lacking behind the big teams definitely has something, especially compared to last year. Not being rattled by going behind and then giving up the equaliser and professionally completing the win is a good sign. We rolled over in these games last year so the right attitude is there.
I also do absolutely agree that we need reinforcements (should be coming soon) to help support this start we’ve had, if we leave it too late as we have in the past we could then struggle to catch up or build on the start we’ve had in the league.
It’s also nice to see the contribution coming from multiple places on the game sheet. It will be good to not be reliant on just a couple of players as the season progresses.

I see Fife's coach got a suspension, what did he do to merit it?

I see Fife's coach got a suspension, what did he do to merit it? Gave the reds a round of f’s. Continued when sent from the bench. Chucked his papers on the ice followed by a water bottle. Was funny tbf.

The key to the ban was that he kept going after getting a game penalty. Abused refs, got game penalty. Stood there another 5mins abusing them, got a 2nd game penalty. Eventually left, throwing his things on the ice has he went. 1 game ban fully deserved.

Apparently he’s hard of hearing so it feels like a situation that could of been avoided with a bit of understanding from the officials but as you say he crossed the line and throwing things onto the ice is pretty much a suspension in any league now

He does apear to be gesturing that he cant hear ref. Asking him to come and explain. Ref refuses and then gives him first misconduct. Also suggested the refs refused after 5mins of abuse already though.

The ref should be punished for blatant discrimination then.
Yes, the coach deserved his punishment but if he's gesturing that he can't hear then the ref should be more understanding of the situation
