Ahhh the old debate about keeping a core.. It's all valid when imports actually want to stay but they just want to get away from Nottingham the moment the season has ended.. Can someone tell me the last time panthers retained at least 5 imports? The year we won the league comes to mind off the top of head. 6 returning Imports 8 returning Brits 10 years then that is absolutely horrific

Barely 3 pages on what is another relatively heavy defeat against our nearest rivals at home, yes it maybe a "noddy" cup but a trophy is still a trophy and lately beggars cant be choosers...
Its like the fanbase now accepts we have a cheap team and they dont, imho its no wonder the crowds have dropped and its no more than the management deserve. Even now when its clear improvements NEED to be made to even stay competitive nothing is done until its too late, looks like I get to save money on another bloody season

There’s new management with OP in charge and completely different coaching set up. Last season can’t really be used as a measure as there was nobody you’d want to bring back. Remains to be seen when trying to build a core whether the new regime can hold on players

If you asked me who have been the most underachieved team, in the last 5/6 yrs I would say Panthers, big club but in name only. You guys should be in top 3 every season, but your club needs a complete overhaul, from ownership to coach to team. The only team you can comfortably beat is us in Cardiff, your one of only 3 arena teams but play like a small club side, in fact you were more competitive when you played in the old gaff. This league can’t afford to have big clubs playing like minnows, I hate feeling like this but I want a league that’s as strong as possible, and in all fairness they shouldn’t come any bigger than Panthers. Sorry rant over come on Panthers.

I think what the club does with personnel will tell the tale for the season. We need to get to a position (as Sheffield have done) where there is a decent core. If we start again every year, there’s no chance. Let’s face it, anyone expecting anyone to create an EIHL winning team out of nothing this summer is deluded. A top 4 finish would be a decent season I think, but then keep the core, as Devils, Giants and Steelers seem to do, not wholesale change every year, which to me speaks of poor recruitment and/or retention issues. That’s 1-10 in the 2 Steelers cup home games. Ouch. Historically there were always retention issues across the EIHL due to poor wages but the other teams stepped up the accommodation, cars, bills, partner jobs, food, and of course uni places. Panthers wages historically were the best in the league but for the pittance that EIHL players are paid that’s really just one part of the consideration in the bigger picture. We were/are very good friends with before and up until the league winning team and all were the highest paid players in the league back then but the living conditions were just plain awful. I wouldn’t have put our dogs into the places they were living in back then. Jono Phillips was telling us one day in Peterborough that he would never ever leave Sheffield because the players are treated like family and they are looked after on and off the ice (by then Sheffields wages were higher than the Panthers too). Just look at Guildford last year. That was the same. Belfast in the last few years have been excellent for the players on a lot of levels. I know that a few years ago Coventry fed their players every day when Panthers players just got two Corner House cinema tickets a week and a pizza. Panthers had an old fashioned mentality and it still has a rink mentality

There's clearly issues which the players don't like and get their heads turned.. No doubt someone will come on now saying different but it's been going on for years like you said just to be 'unfortunate'

Boys against men, we are an average team. Sheffield are a good team, so many good players. We looked short of ideas and Rok needs to sort his 5 hole Not just last night but the Panthers defence is plain awful, Roc is massively overrated and our Brits are terrible. Betteridge isn’t a shadow of the player he was before he left and you just have to watch Dowd last night to see what a difference a quality Brit can make.

What do you mean by culture exactly? What do you think culture means? To me, the culture of a sports club isn’t just about the people that work within, fans have a part to play in their attitude, involvements and behaviour. So what do you think it is and how do they improve it in your opinion?

So what do you think it is and how do they improve it in your opinion? Start attracting REAL fans for a start instead of the Saturday night out crowd. Has the displeasure of being sat next to a couple of loud uncouth drunks (again) the last game we went to and I wouldn’t even sit next to drunks in a pub. Constantly losing is never going to bring fans in ever. Stop it with the idiotic dance cam and bloody stupid bongo cam and actually do something for SPORT FANS! Put out a team that people are proud of because of performance and not because they accept a friend request on FB. Put someone onto the staff to look after players needs and problems. Sort out some uni/education packages. Cater properly for wives/partners. Make sure that the players don’t have to skate off for period breaks to boo’s. Sports just about competing and winning not filling the place with newbies and those out to get bladdered.

Exactly that bongo nonsense should be kept for kids discos not for a professional sports outfit.. you are right about the fans.. they are a completely different bunch to the one when I first started going at LPS .. the later demanded success this bunch ain't demanding at all but we've covered this ground before eh

It's a club thing Omar came in last summer so has only had this summer to actually set a new culture to try and retain players and would anyone have been happy with retaining a core from last season’s team? This is why I say it still remains to be seen. Things might’ve changed behind the scenes or they may not.

Culture The ideas, customs and behaviour of a particular people/public/society etc
Now then. If the ideas, customs and behaviour of our club needs change, then we have to think of what they are that we don’t like/want.

So what do you think it is and how do they improve it in your opinion? Involve the fans, but as we know…..fans have complained of being excluded. We had a fan survey from the very top but little regard to opinion from fans of the Cup competition that Elite bring to us. Was this ‘ not enough time for 23-24’ so we expect change of format in 24-25? Or do we have no optimism?

Your never going to get Fan Culture in Nottingham due to the owners priorities though, its been the same for the past 20+ years. Everything done is a token gesture to appease the select few. Still its bought stability but you would have thought stability over such a period of time would bring more success. So too me success is not any factor at all to the owners only the bottom line and that no matter what has to be consistent. Happy days if they do well all it means is next years bottom line is higher...... Need a 4000-5000 Ice rink in Derby, that would put the cat amongst the goldfish in terms of bums on Seats in Nottingham. Hell panthers would not even be the team to beat
